Innovative and classical cuisine. Whether an enjoyable lunch or dinner, Charlene and Vernon and staff always provide an elegant and exquisite meal. We have been coming here for over twenty years. The Meal is always a good choice. Charlene's desserts are fantastic(especially with the ginger ice cream). Vernon's knowledge of wine and Sammy's wine list is great.

Our friends have been patrons for 30 years or so but we had never been there. It has an unassuming front but once you enter into the old part of the building, with small rooms like a home, you are in for a treat. The proprietor gave us special treatment, choosing the most appropriate wine for our meals. His cellar,... More

We ate at New Sammy's Cowboy bistro. It is located about 10 minutes north of Ashland and is not well marked from the roadway. We passed it, turned back and eventually found it. I ordered the dinner which consisted of a very tasty salad, two large loin chops cooked med. rare and a choice of dessert. Cost was $50. There... More

I have recently seen people say you can't make a play on time. I'v eaten at Sammys several times and went to a play on time no problem. If you want to show up with a large group of people and talk and eat slow then complain when you're late that's not Sammys fault. I'v seen the owner personally tell... More

We had dinner as part of a group of people who have been regular customers at this quirky restaurant for many years so we had high expectations based on their excellent prior experiences. Our reservation was for 5:30 PM because 4 of us were attending a play at 8 PM and when we arrived we were the only customers so... More

This place has been in business for some years and just gets better and better. The quirkiness starts with finding the restaurant; it's right on the Pacific Highway north of Ashland, but if you don't watch carefully you'll miss the tiny sign. The Sammy part of the name is for the owners' grandson, and likewise the Cowboy part. The outside... More

There is one dinner at $50 on the menu so you better want that. There is usually one alternative as well. For example, the night I went, the main meal was lamb and the alternate was salmon. The lamb was delicious, but overall I felt the atmosphere too controlling. The owner wants everything done his way. Absolutely fabulous wine list... More

This place is as fine a restaurant as you could wish to find any place. The food is extraordinary. I'm uncertain about the name of the establishment, as it has nothing to do with cowboys or the trail. The food is divine. I ordered what was simply entitled, 'The Dinner'. It consisted of a butter leaf salad with Rogue River... More

We had a wonderful dinner there while we were in the Ashland area. Food quality is top of the line and the wine list is extensive with good offerings at all price points. Great place for a relaxed meal. Menu changes frequently so trust them to have things you will like

Friend told us it's a must while staying in Ashland. but we did not expect to have more then a decent dinner. When we saw the wine list we understood that there is a big love behind this place. The food was fantastic, the service was like the old days and the wine pairing that Vern choose was amazing. we... More
