Last time I ate here I got food poisoning. The fish was oily and ew. Maybe it's changed since then but I doubt it. It's a chain restaurant.

McGrath's has a beautiful space with an attractive bar and a lot of seating. The fish is always cooked perfectly and seems fresh. I think I've liked everything I've ever had here. Some of my favorite items are: cobb salad, clam chowder, fisherman's stew, salmon, cod, halibut, coconut prawns. I love the cheese biscuits at Red Lobster, but everything else... More

We've been coming here for 20 years (actually preferred the downtown location that closed). Service just ok. Deep fried prawns are melt in your mouth good. Lots of food for the price.

Since Salem is not known for an over-abundance of fine dining establishments - we tend to return to the same restaurants that prove to be consistent in service and quality. McGrath's Fish House is one of those casual dining places that tries (and mostly succeeds) to take it up a notch or two. Hubby and I are big on fish... More

Had lunch with a friend and wait staff was terrific. The chowder was hot and flavorful. Crab and artichoke sandwich was tasty. Fries got soggy fast so eat them first.

McGrath's used to have two locations, their original setting downtown and this newer, somewhat larger version on the outskirts of town adjacent to a large shopping mall. Personally, I preferred the original, in particular its ambience, which was warm and comfortable. The one great advantage of this newer location is the ample parking, always a problem in downtown Salem. The... More

Had a very nice lunch with my mom. We always know the food will be great here. Their clam chowder is the best.

McGrath's all you can eat shrimp special features 4 different dishes, all tasty. Service is always warm and friendly and seating is quick. They serve warm sourdough bread first and a fresh salad before the meal.

If you want good sea food this is the place. Polite wait staff, good quality and quantity of food. Close to a large shopping mall, and lodging not too far away. Usually have an e-mail coupon for special meals.
