During our recent road trip we had an overnight stay in Salem and we didn't feel like having the 'usual' fast food. Downtown Market and Deli popped on our restaurant search so we decided to try it out. We were on a hurry so we decided to do take out. We've had middle eastern/lebanese food in many other places and... More

Nice variety of spices in the grocery store including some that are difficult to find elsewhere. Great looking food counter in the back as well as a full service restaurant upstairs. We ate in the restaurant and were impressed with the quality of the food and the service. The falafel and dolmas were excellent. We'll definitely be back.

Not that much. If you asked for more bread, you have to pay 2 more dollars. All restaurants do this for free except downtown market. Kind of greed.

Good food, good service, good atmosphere=wonderful experience. We picked this using tripadvisor and it was close to where we were visiting. Our server was very pleasant and traversed stairs to serve us. We were early for lunch and so the only group there. The portions very generous and my 16 yo was quite satisfied by the end of the meal.... More

This downtown market and deli is one of the few Middle Eastern places in the state capital of Salem. Upstairs is a modest Arabic restaurant. If you like Middle Eastern food, try this market, deli, and restaurant.

The deli has plentiful portions of fresh sliced Thurman's deli meat on french rolls. My favorite is the Pastrami. If you like gyros, you'll love the Swarma. They also have fresh baked mediterranean pies, hummus, and olives. Writing this has made me want to go back tomorrow.

Love the food and the ambiance. I miss North Africa. The Deli and restaurant bring this part of the world into view.

There is a difference between Lamb and Mutton. We suspect that fine line was crossed on our last visit. Also, I bought a gift certificate through a local radio station. The fine-print restrictions were so onerous, that on my second failed attempt to use it. I tore it up in utter frustration. Granted, I should have read the fine print... More

If you have a sweet tooth, I would certainly try the baklava...baklava not so easy to find in the Northwest. I had a shawarma...it was OK...bit chewy...my companions had - one with the salad...one with the baba ghanoush...they were very pleased with their selections. If you like Middle Eastern foods...tend to be a foodie...or have an adventurous palate, this place... More

We had lunch at the Downtown Market and Deli a few weeks ago. As far as location it's nice to see an ethnic restaurant right in the heart of downtown. The restaurant is on an upper floor above a small grocery store. Mainly the view from the dining area is of the grocery store and deli. Atmosphere was nice and... More
