I travel to the Portland area once or twice a year, and this is always one of my stops. It's been around forever and is a local favorite. It's open 24 hrs, and late night is the best time to go, not only for the food, but for the people watching. The pancakes and other breakfasts are great, served any... More

And we found them here. Over the top huge, delicious, w/ unique Portland diner vibe. The strawberry and blueberry were to die for. We went twice! The omelets were yummy too and equally huge.

The atmosphere is funky and very Portland. The waiter and one of the cooks were wearing brightly colored tie dye t-shirts. Food is good, almost great but a bit too greasy for my liking. The chicken fried steak was great! Not dry, greasy nor fatty. The gravy was great too. Breakfast was $14 and coffee 2.50. So check was on the higher end. Staff was nice and friendly.

Original Hotcake House (and steaks!) Is just what you expect in classic diner, if what you expect is excellent American breakfast fare --and much more. Their pancakes are superb--whites of eggs whipped then folded into a batter that flips up rich moist cakes. Home-made hash browns, browned fresh and perfectly. And all the meats that fit in omelettes and side... More

This is a quaint little family owned restaurant that serve really delicious breakfasts. It is so worth the wait in line to order and get a place to sit and enjoy your food. Very small town feel as locals are having their morning conversations over a good cup of coffee and food. Friendly staff and always obliging to provide great... More

I always enjoy the hotcakes when I am in the neighborhood of this hotcake house. The hotcakes are large and tasty do you only need one or two to fill up.

We chose this place based on reviews and location near our hotel. I was not impressed with the food it was just average. Staff was friendly and food services was pretty quick.
