I never realized this place was separate from the Waffle Window but I'm glad I know this now. We went recently and had a great breakfast here. I stuck to the waffles though. Waffles with fresh berries and cream. It was excellent. My son had chicken and waffles - also great! I'd love to check it out again soon.

The perfect place for a large breakfast! Prices a very decent for the quality and amount of food. The staff is kind and helpful and it has quickly become my breakfast HQ in hawthorne!

You have a choice of a waffle from the outside window or you can sit down inside and order food and cocktails. My family split a BLTA and burger with fries and we each had a side salad. The food was very good, the burger was cooked perfectly. The service was ok and we enjoyed our time at the Bread... More

It's all about the waffles at this restaurant and I don't think you can go wrong. I had the scramble and it too was very good.

We visited Bread and Ink for a late lunch. Our server was pleasant and popped by to see how we were doing frequently. My husband and I both ordered salads and they came out quickly. The food really hit the spot and the service was excellent. .

After I recently moved back to PDX, I wanted to go exploring some of my "old haunts" with a good dining buddy. We landed at BVrean and Ink...after another fave had no seating (it was a last-minute effort, BTW). WOW, was I pleased with how this little old neighborhood standard had just "aged gracefully." The food was "uber-comfort," and perfectly... More

Good food but terrible service! We never were asked if we wanted anything to drink, and after our food was delivered our waitress never came back to ask if we needed anything. Very slow, not enough servers. It took about 1/2 hour after we ate to get the check. Servers were not very friendly.

My sister and I dropped in for Happy Hour while shopping on Hawthorne. She had the Dungeness Crab Bruscetta which she really liked. I had the vegan squash soup and a greek salad both of which were wonderful. Our waiter was friendly and gave us great service. Prices for dinner were much higher but I'm sure that it would be... As you can tell from the title, I love the Bread and Ink Cafe!! The food is great and there are options available from the Waffle Window next door. It can get a little busy so early arrival is good or you can expect a bit of a wait (but it is well worth it).

I enjoyed the atmosphere and staff of this restaurant. Went for Sunday brunch with friends; service and food good. Only comment: a bit of tang in the hollandaise sauce for the Lox Eggs Benedict. Maybe a tad too much lemon? Would return.
