We've been to Saucebox for happy hour a while ago which is a much better bargain, like most places, than going to the restaurant. This is the first time we've eaten in the restaurant. At first the service and atmosphere was good. But then a large group came in, making so much noise that we couldnt hear each other talking,... More

Hello SD FlipFlops: Thank you for the detailed review. While I'm glad you enjoyed most of your food, I am sorry about the pot stickers. I will have chef investigate and revisit them. Sorry too that the large group invaded your evening. That is a risk we take with care to try not to impose upon others in the dining... More

Arrived a bit early for our dinner reservations and had a drink at the bar while waiting. The music was loud & the bar was dark. We reviewed the menus while sitting at the bar and were a bit excited for a few dishes (BBQ Pork Bun & Udon to name a few). Unfortunately, those dishes were not available on... More

Well, Scrappleking, while I am pleased to hear from you, it is disappointing that we fell flat on your last visit. Our goal is to blow you away with terrific, memorable flavors and terrific service, every time. I hope you might consider the fact that you found us on an off-night. This place has one of the best happy hours I've been to in a long time. Food options at a ton of price points $2-$7 for very good portions. I had the pork udon and it was dinner for my night. $5 house cocktail was delicious!

Arrived just before 5 pm on a Thursday evening and were met with a blast of what someone must have believed was music from the sound system. Typical noisy Portland bar overwhelmed by the sound system racket. Probably should have but didn't walk out. Very interesting menu and everything we tried from the happy hour menu was good. Particularly liked... More

I'm thrilled you were delighted with our unique menu and happy hour specials! However, I'm sorry to hear that you weren't impressed with our lively atmosphere, so hopefully we'll get the chance to welcome you back during one of our more relaxed hours, or next time come for dinner and we will seat you in the adjacent, quiet dining room.... Despite the menu sounding good, my boyfriend and I were pretty disappointed with this place. First, our appetizer was delivered after our entrees which was not a huge deal. Once we both tried the food we came to the same conclusion: store bought Ramen has more flavor than this place's. With that being said, the oxtail in the dish was... More

Paulina, while it's great you and your boyfriend joined us, I'm sorry to hear you weren't impressed. It's always our desire to craft a memorable dining experience for our guests with our fusion flair. Perhaps you simply caught us on an off night, but that's certainly not an excuse. I hope we'll get another chance to share our best with... More

Saucebox had an interesting menu, but the service is average. We ordered a bottle of local Chardonnay but the waiter came back and told us that it was sold out. He proposed another Californian Chardonnay but when the wine was served I realised that it was an Argentinian wine. The day of our visit the place was empty and the... More

It's wonderful hearing you enjoyed our unique dishes, but I'm sorry to hear that you weren't fully impressed with your dining experience. Especially since we do our best celebrate quality throughout our restaurant and that certainly extends well beyond your plate. Hopefully, we'll get another chance to welcome you back. This is a restaurant that features many small plates that are tasty and unusual. The bar is crazy noisy, but the dining room is a bit quieter. The service was slow because I think they were understaffed. But every dish we ordered was delicious.

We tried out Saucebox based on our hotel's recommendation and were not disappointed. We stuck to small plates and enjoyed basically Asian fusion tapas. Very popular at happy hour.

Saucebox was perfect for our last dinner in Portland. The decor is modern and elegant and noise level was pleasantly quiet. Our server, Tim, was very friendly and impressively knowledgeable about the food scene in Portland. We had the salmon and Korean baby back ribs. Both were very well-prepared, perfectly seasoned and delicious. The brussel sprout appetizer was good but... More
