KG’s Function Room

We recently hired KG’s Function Room, River Arms, Ulverstone for a birthday celebration and it was such a GREAT night! Karen (the manager) was very accommodating to our requests and Molly (who worked the evening bartending etc.) was an absolute delight! Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the catered platters and pizzas, and everyone commented on how lovely the venue itself is! We would highly recommend KG’s Function Room for your next celebration!!

Great service & meal.

We thought this place was closed from the front driving past, so we drove around the back into the shopping car park & so glad we did. This pub has a classy dining room serving excellent pub food, generous portions & taste go hand in hand. We shared an entree of prawns in an extremely lightly battered spicy season with a small bed of salad 8 prawns $17 from memory, very nice & for our main we did a pizza half Greek lamb & tzaki & 1/2 the hot spicy one again it’s actual name escapes me, but both were delightful, the service was attentive a swift & also friendly. We would & will definitely return. Thank you 👍, we also had 4 beers in total $72 😎

Nice atmosphere and lovely food

We went for dinner and lunch again the next day. The meals are huge. I asked the staff if I could have chicken instead of meat in the Thai salad which was obliged and the salad was beautiful, we were eating it for 3 days and I ordered the small size. The atmosphere is relaxed and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Not what I expected

So we went for tea. I ordered a steak medium well, it come out very raw. Spoke to the waitress who was actually amazing with this issue they took my steak back and cooked me another one. This time, it came out like rubber and was so overcooked that it's not funny. My partner orders fish and vegetables, and it come out with salad and no vegetables. Fair to say it was a let down.

Worst meal and service

We went for dinner and both meals where the worst we can remember ever getting served . My meal was grilled fish and Greek salad which was delivered 1.5 hrs from ordering only to find the fish was raw which I returned for them to cook only to be returned in an unbeatable state ( disgusting) The second persons meal was Chicken breast and sauce —- well the sauce was more of a lot of runny soap which destroyed the whole meal . Then the service or should I say the lack of it — forget getting the waitress getting drink orders , just go get it your self . To top it all off everything Is way way over priced and you leave hungry A very big give them a miss

We visited this restaurant recently on a Tuesday evening and was surprised at how busy it was. It’s obviously a secret amongst locals because it wasn’t too long before we realised why it was so popular. The customer service from all staff was exemplary, I couldn’t fault it. They all were so friendly pleasant and it wasn’t forced either, they just obviously are a great time who love their job. Then the food, this was tasty and there is a variety to choose from. I had the beef cheek which was tender and flavourful, my partner had the beef rendang which he loved. We also had some bread to start which was tasty. I wanted dessert but the meals were too filling unfortunately so we settled for coffee. The setting is pleasant with ample parking and the best part was no loud music so we could hear each other and the atmosphere was great with many families and friends all chatting to each other in a warm setting without having to yell at each other over loud music which is often hard to find in these places. I highly recommend a visit.

Yum - Delicious Food and Excellent Service!

Delicious food and excellent service! Greeted with a smile on arrival, great drinks list, extensive menu (catering for all diets). All the meals coming out looked quite large - our party enjoyed the seafood pappardelle with fresh chili (fresh and yum), chicken galantine (delicious) and salmon fillet (to die for) followed by an espresso coffee and a port. Whilst the menu is a little more expensive than the average hotel, the food and service is WAY above average! Highly recommend. Thanks for a very enjoyable dining experience!

Absolutely the best pub food we have had in decades.

Called in for lunch and just made it before service closed. What a wonderful experience. The staff were friendly and obliging- even though it was only with 5 minutes to spare there was no rushing us. Between us we had soft shell crab tacos, red Thai curry, chicken breast with potato Rossi and broccolini and carbonara with prawns. With a huge menu we were spoilt for choice, and none of our choices disappointed. We all agreed that it was not “pub food”. It was of a quality that you would expect from an up-market restaurant. So glad we stopped for lunch, and trying to rearrange our trip to go that way on our return trip, just for an excuse to eat there again.

This hotel blew us away, the decor is modern, the staff were amazing and the food absolutely top notch. The menu variety was huge, we settled on Chicken Schnitzel with vegies and pepper gravy and Lambs Fry & Bacon (very rarely seen on menus now). Both meals were absolutely beautiful, restaurant quality. Highly recommended.

Great food and service

Gorgeous interior. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Orders were taken quickly - drinks arrived promptly - meals came out in good timing not too quickly enough to have a chat but not waiting hours. Delicious food - all 4 of us ordered something different and we were all very pleased. The staff really made the night as nothing was too much trouble and they were always there if you needed another drink etc. will definitely come back on our next trip to Ulverstone.

Reasonable meal

Our family of four went here for dinner on our first night staying at Turner's Beach. This is club/hotel food with quantity over quality. Three of the four meals hit the mark with the beef curry not quite up to the mark. Friendly service and the food was at the table in reasonably quick time, especially given the place was very busy.

Loved our lunch

We enjoyed our lunch here. The decor is so well done, The food was delicious but not perfect but having said that, we will come back again. I had the whole fish which was well cooked but the batter was so hard. Previously, I have had a whole fish cooked with batter which was so light yet crunchy. I suppose I am comparing the two. My husband's lambs fry and bacon was nice but not enough bacon. We do recommend coming here and checking it out for yourself.

Staff very attentive and efficient, comfortable venue but that’s where it ends. The food was terrible the scotch steak was overcooked, tough and tasteless, vegetables overcooked and tepid. The seafood pasta was mostly dry pasta very little seafood or sauce. Greek lamb salad was mostly salad, fish was passable.

Delicious pizza

What a lovely place to stop and have a lunch on our long journey. The waitress was so helpful and friendly (dinosaur, you'll know which one I mean) she deserves a raise if she's just on minimum wage. Her recommendations were perfect and her manner was professional and yet warm and caring. The meal was absolutely delicious and served promptly and hot. A nice setting, large dining room with interesting photos and bits and pieces, we would return.

Appalling service

Just went for a meal. Sat down, given menus, drink order taken which arrived fairly promptly. An hour later, still no one taken our meal order. Went and paid for the drinks. Told the Duty Manager, all she could say was sorry. Wouldn't you think in this day and age that there would have been some effort to make up for the poor service, eg, can we take your order now, or a voucher for next time, or the drinks for free. But no. Guess they'll just complain about covid affecting their business.

Our Duty Manager on at the time does recall the incident and takes responsibility for the miscommunication as the staff through you were not dining but only in for a drink.
