Lunch stop while on a tour - the lobster season was a few days away so I settled for this restaurant - read good reviews and wanted local seafood. Service slow but friendly. Too hot and smelling of cooking oil inside so sat outside even...though it was so windy. The views were great. Kept it simple because the lunch stop was brief - took a long time to get to me. Chips were great - the meal was somewhat disappointing. Given the location had expected something better. Guess seafood is expensive here too so as long as it was fresh that would have to do. Its a great spot with a lot of potential for better menu and experience. Quirky and okay on the day. Enjoy.More

On the way from Wineglass Bay to Triabunna, I stopped in Swansea for its good location I checked if there were any good option in town for dinner, and I was pleased to find Saltshaker Restaurant What first made me choose it was the views...it seemed to offer, and I can now confirm, beautiful ones Also, the menu is very tempting, with oysters, pies, fish, pasta, pizza, curry; and a nice selection of desserts too I personally went for the scallop pie (Tasmanian wild scallops in mild yellow curry, that came with chips and also the chef's salad, which on top of green salad had fruits and feta cheese). And as a dessert the cake of the day, which was an almond one, that came with whipped cream Every food item was super yummy, really loved them Also the view is so nice (pro tip, you may want to bring a jacket depending when you go) If you prefer to be inside though (which has big windows to offer a very nice view too), reservation is highly encouraged as it can get busy Highly recommended!More

On our recent visit to Swansea we had dinner at Saltshaker. We both chose the fish and chips, and were very pleased with our meals. We have often experienced, at other restaurants in our travels, battered fish that are almost inedible due to the fat...soaked thick batter, but not so with our fish at Saltshaker, as this fish was cooked perfectly with a light batter. I am not a fan of fruit in salads accompanying a main course, but the fruit based salad with our meals was quite refreshing and was an excellent balance to the fish and chips. We both very much enjoyed our meals. Our waitress was very friendly, and very eager to ensure we were happy with our meals and dining experience. The only criticism is that the tables are crammed very close togethor, so there is very little space between each group of diners, and therefore very little privacy between each group.More

We ordered garlic prawn pizza, it is a ripped off for its price. It has only 1-2 tiny pieces of prawn for each slice, size of my small finger nail!!! And very thin crust!!! Nothing special with the taste!

We have dined here a few times over the past few years. Sadly the standard is slipping. It was the only place open in Swansea right in town on a Sunday so in we went. Menu is overpriced and too focused on expensive large plates....Finally decided on the bacon bruschetta, arrived dry and boring. Ate it because I was really hungry. The chicken bruschetta went down better but still a disappointment. Two others ordered the rocket salad. Well yes it had LOTS of rocket, not much else, and really expensive for an unsatisfying bowls of lettuce. The waitress brought us a bucket of cutlery and napkins when our food arrived. Not enough of either for the 4 of us! Had to go and forage for ourselves from the bench behind the servery. Sadly this is the last time we will stop here. Better off heading on to the bakery at the other end of town, we didn't have time this day and needed to stay right in Swansea for an event. Maybe Saltshaker needs to trim its menu and concentrate on better quality food at a reasonable price?More

Recently ate at this beautifully located cafe overlooking the sea and beach . We ordered a few dishes including a tasty chowder and fish and chips . The unnamed fish however ( supposedly fresh) looked suspiciously like pre prepared packaged fish we’d actually eaten at...home during the week . A shame that local fish wasn’t on the menu .More

What an amazing find. Stopped in here for a late breakfast on the way up the coast. Great hot coffee, gorgeous views and two fabulous meals. I had the poached eggs and my husband had the baked avocado. My eggs were runny and delicious and...the baked avocado came with egg, smoked salmon and a roasted potato. The best breakfast we have had on our Tasmania trip. The menu for lunch and dinner also looked great.More

$25.90 and hollandaise sauce tastes weird - like out of a bottle or made with margerine not butter. 1 small piece of toast was definitely not enough. Generous bacon but service very ordinary. Had to ask for Salt & Pepper, rind was left on bacon,...waitress ok but a bit ‘asleep at the wheel’. Flat white $5.50 a bit weak. Waitress asked how meal was so i mentioned the weird tasting Hollandaise- didn’t care. She insisted it was house made. The whole point of that meal is hollandaise sauce! Stunning views bit for a $32 breakfast? Won’t order that again.More

Overpriced and flavourless. Salt and pepper calamari $37.90 and had zero flavour and was pure white so the coating was undercooked and floury. Seafood linguini tasted like it was in unseasoned tomato juice and the scallops were the size of 5c pieces. The chicken Kiev...had lots of flavour and was the best meal we ordered, but it was over cooked and dry.More

Well, not really lunch - closes at 7.00pm so our booking was for 5.00pm for an early dinner or late lunch, take your pick! Atmosphere was very quiet as it was a slow Saturday night in winter in a seaside town. Given the timing, all...else was quite okay, food was generally quite acceptable, my wife’s scallop pie stood out while my fish and chips was, well was “fish and chips”.More

Food was delicious. I had the calamari which was the best I had ever eaten . Came with a very yummy fresh salad and a side order of hot, crunchy chips. Will definitely stop here again.

We so enjoyed our meal our meal at this restaurant . We had noticed during the day that it opens for evening meals at 5pm and we arrived soon after. We were greeted with a smile and were able to choose our table. After checking...out the menu we both opted for pizza. It seemed that kind of night. By then it was dark outside .... but warm and cosy in the restaurant. I chose a margherita, and my partner a marinara. We didnt have long to wait. Both were delicious plus. My partner is the pizza maker in our house and we never eat them out as so often we have been disappointed. But these were perfect. By the time we left the restaurant was filling up. Such pleasurable and satisfying meals.More

Nice cafe on the Swansea waterfront with sparkling water views and good service. Burgers and steak sandwich are great. Well prices drinks - you need to order food however, it is not a bar where you can just grab a drink. Pizza outlet connected next...door. We'll be back...and keen to try the Nepalese soup!More
