Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a difference 2 years can make. Our first visit here was a lovely experience making us want to go back again, and today was the day. But wow, things have changed. I would have to agree with previous reviews from other people. It’s not...what it used to be. Fancy serving food and drinks on paper plates / cups!! If I sit in at a cafe, I would expect my coffee to be served in a decent cup, not a takeaway cup with a sippy lid! And the quality of the scones was just ok. I even checked through my photos from our first visit and confirmed proper plates and cups were used. Certainly better scones to be had elsewhere where in Tasmania. Unfortunately, we will not be returning and unable to recommend it to others. This cafe is a great location with great views - come on Kate’s berry farm - get that class back!More

Lovely place to stop for morning tea. A little pricey but serves were very generous and could easily be shared between two people. Buttery scones with mingledberry jam and the berry pie with vanilla ice cream were a treat. Loved the mingledberry jam so much...that we got a couple of jars to take back home and share with friends.More

Missed the mark. Overpriced scones $16.50 for two with small serves of jam and cream. Most egregious was the tea served in disposable cups. We had expected a proper English pot of tea. The ice cream was nice. Wouldn’t go back.

I’ve been waiting years to have the opportunity to visit Kate’s Berry Farm so it was very disappointing that when I finally made it the experience was so substandard. First the positives: the setting is lovely and the cafe itself is quaint and interesting, also...the coffee is fine. The big negative for us was the pretty awful scones and the fact that although we dined in, everything was served in takeaway cups or on disposable plates. The bare minimum I would expect dining in would be to have your hot drink in an actual cup rather than a cardboard takeaway and decent plates rather than woollies paper ones. It felt ridiculously cheap and unprofessional. We had Devonshire Teas, but the scones were far from the light, fluffy ones expected. Two square, heavy, doughy scones were only palatable when smothered with jam and cream. They were overpriced and barely edible. Wish I could have been impressed after waiting so long, but I’m afraid I won’t be back.More

Don't waste your time. Not a berry to be seen! Looks like they used to grow the m but the farm section is now abandoned. Coffee shop is overpriced and farm is run down.

Amazing view and lovely staff but prices are beyond affordable. Family of 4 cost us $90 for (altogether) 6 crepes 3 scoops of ice cream sour compote and a tiny lava cake. Extremely small serves for $22.50. Will struggle to go back

Kate’s Berry farm has been my go to snack stop for over 30 years! The crepes were her usual high standard and good coffee. It has been a pleasure dropping in here over the years and never disappoints. I always buy a treat to take...home - this time blueberries coated in dark chocolate, and they are delicious.More

Dropped in for a coffee. Turned out to be the most expensive coffee that we’ve had, at almost $7 each. The milk has been burnt so it was undrinkable. A disappointing detour

Dropped in to sample some of the delicious jams on offer. Love that you can try before you buy and that they have a large range of sugar free options. We also got a 'single scoop' icecream... it was bigger than most double scoops I've...had! And the icecream was amazing. We had boysenberry and it was the best berry icecream I had in Tasmania. Yum!More

What a gem! Quietly situated just out of Swansea, this little find sold wonderful coffee & scones, which were served with homemade jams of your choice. The gift shop stocked fudges, jams & sweets & a few more. Staff were very friendly. You could even...pick your own strawberries!More

The view here is sensational.I did find this time prices had jumped significantly. Whilst our toasted sandwiches were lovely I wouldn't say they were worth $12.50 each. The scones were quite dry.The Iced Coffee was $7.50 and the Iced Chocolate $7.20.Tourists love this place and that's...what keeps it going.More

We had a double scoop ice-cream cone for only $5.80. The serving was very generous. Ice-cream was really fresh and yummy. We also bought raspberry coated with dark chocolate from here. It wasn't cheap but it was good.

I have always loved going to Kate’s Berry Farm over the years. Unfortunately this visit was a bit disappointing. The prices seem to have gone through the roof, $18.50 for two scones, a small pot of jam, and a small serving of cream is over...the top; especially as the scones seemed to have been reheated from frozen and had hard corners that were inedible. The jam was delicious, as was the cream but the scones were very disappointing. This was mentioned to the staff but I was brushed off with ‘but they were baked this morning’. I don’t think so. The molten chocolate lava cake was delicious and the ice cream too, but again the price was high, $16.50?These prices would be more than you would pay for dessert at some restaurants. The service however is excellent and the view and whole setup is amazing. We would think twice about going back however because of the prices and freshness of the food.More
