We enjoyed our two dinners at Hamer's. The food was delicious and had a good variety of fare. The service was slightly haphazard depending on who was working. Would recommend this venue for families with children.
This was pretty ordinary. Whiting was obviously frozen and dried out and tasteless. At 8.30 we wanted to go to the bar for a nightcap (closes at 9) but it was already closed. No interest from staff in looking after tourists
We found the staff very unfriendly and unhelpful. They made no effort at all to accommodate us - when clearly there was lots of space in the restaurant and still 45 minutes until close. Not very welcoming at all.
The best location on the waterfront, menu is smaller than a lot of other pubs but ok, portion sizes are very good, we had the steak cooked to our liking and very nice serving only issue was the lack of sauce/gravy on steak barely nowhere...near enough especially when you are charged $2 for it.
Get busy so get in early, tables turn over quickly so waits on table are small.More
The brief menu included gluten free. The food was delicious. We enjoyed steak. The servings were generous. The service was quick and efficient. Recommend for a quick, tasty pub meal.
When arriving in Strahan was told this was the place to go did not need to book when arriving at the venue was told to go there would be a 30 minute wait received a phone call around 40 minutes later was seated not asked...for a drink waited approximately 15 minutes and I had to ask the waitress for a drink and where to order did not find a very good variety on the menus not a good selection so we order a parmigiana thought that would be good the garlic bread was dry parmigiana very over cooked and chips soggy very disappointingMore
Staff were friendly, typical pub ambiance and a menu covering standard Australian pub meals.
My partner and I ordered:
- Octopus however they didn’t have any at the time so they offered squid. The squid was blackened from the grill giving it a charcoal taste....The bed of sauce had this strange earthy taste that offered nothing to the squid.
- Beef cheek was well cooked and tender. The cauliflower and potato mash was different and tasty. The biggest let down was the sauce over thebeef cheek. It was bland, need more salt and probably sweetened up a tad it more.
- sweet potato bake. It was good.More
