A very pleasant find

Since Strahan is all about the Gordon River wilderness cruises which last most of the day, finding a sit down lunch venue is not so common. So we ventured out to the Regatta Point train station and found the Tracks on Point cafe open at lunchtime. And the best part is they do breakfast at lunch - always enjoy an eggs Benedict at lunch I do! It was certainly the place to be for lunch as it rapidly filled with locals and tourists like us.

Forget the Rest - This is the best In Strachan!

A hidden gem at the Wilderness Train Station. A great cafe for breakfast, lunch and dinner for burgers, pancakes and waffles. The staff aim to please, are super friendly, helpful and genuinely interested in you. The other ‘promoted’ pub restaurants in Stachan on the waterfront are at best average pub food with inflated prices - so do try this cafe as many of the locals do. We had great burgers, pancakes with egg, bacon and maple sauce, great coffee and icecreams. A must to visit just 5 minutes by car for eat in or takeaway! 💋 Enjoy.

The staff here are amazing

There is not a lot happening around town and we had called to try and fit a group of 13 in for a dinner. The businesses that did answer their phones pretty much laughed at us but not Kelsey from Tracks on Point. She asked if we didn't min dhaving two tables and if this was the case then she would make sure she could fit us in. And this is exactly what she did. She was there with Peris the Chef and they made us feel welcome and underpromised and overdelivered. Yes its a simple menu, Burgers and Chips but they came out quickly, as ordered and were amazing. They were both under the pump and they handled the evening (with a full restaurant turning over tables) with a smile and ever so friendly. Its not fine dining but if you are after burger and chips with amazing staff, then you must go here.

Just picked the wrong menu item

I dropped in here to get takeaway after a long day on the Gordon River Cruise. We weren't very hungry and a burger didn't appeal, but there was the option of a Caesar salad. The staff were fine, friendly, the service was quick, but this was the strangest Caesar salad I have ever eaten! Soooo much bacon (the only actual flavour in the dish), just a hunk of iceberg lettuce with bacon, an odd dressing, and a fried egg! And it was very expensive, from memory $20 a serve. I acknowledge that burgers are their specialty, and the reviews suggest that they do these really well. So, perhaps next time ... but chef should look up a recipe for Caesar salad, honestly!

So frustrating

We came here for breakfast before going on the Gordon river cruise. I asked if there would be enough time to get meals as we needed to be at cruise office at a certain time- and they said it would be ok. I actually felt sorry for the staff as they seemed to have no clue what they were doing. First day perhaps? We waited and waited and eventually two of our four meals arrived. Eggs overcooked and bacon like leather. After asking, the third meal arrived and was not great either. When it was time to leave my meal had still not arrived (very disappointing as the French toast sounded delicious). I asked for a refund and they recharged me rather than refunding- and the incorrect amount. All together a comedy of errors although considering everything, the staff were reasonably pleasant. Will certainly not be going back for breakfast tomorrow (or ever)

Cafe in hiding at Strahan Railway Station

Looking for a place to eat in Strahan We found this hidden gem on the opposite side of the harbour in the railway station. We thought it may have closed but when we walked along the darkened railway station and entered, this busy little cafe took us by surprise. Specialises in burgers (lamb, chicken, beef, vegetarian), pancakes and milkshakes. My wife had a chicken burger and I had one of the beef burgers. Both served with chips, freshly cooked, served hot and deliciously tasty. Service was great, atmosphere bright and happy. Several families with kids had booked tables and enjoying the food. A delightful find in a town where your dining options are limited.

Great coffee, great location.

Visited this cafe twice in two days. The first day, I ordered flat white and soup, the second day I ordered flat white and scone. First time, lunchtime, second time 430pm. Service was great, friendly and food and coffee lovely on both occasions. Great location, lovely sense of history, and beautifully appointed. Fabulous wood everywhere. Great value for money and an easy walk from Strahan village, on concrete walkway that's equally wheelchair accessible.

went here based on reviews Best reviews for Strahan. Ordered Southern Fried Chicken It was really good Nicely cooked. Good bacon. Lettuce, Tomato & Cheese. Aoli. Chips were also good although I'd prefer to have choice of no chicken salt. Only negative is they advertise hours 7am - 8 pm. I arrived for early dinner at 4:35 & they saaid they wouldn't be open for dinner until 5. Not a big deal really

Had dinner here last night. Parmigiana was special of the day...meal was fresh and delicious. Service by Tom was friendly and efficient and chef Miro was delighted we all enjoyed our meal. Thanks guys..we left very happy.

Very nice burgers and they catered for the coeliacs in our party.

We arrived in Strahan early evening and were looking for a restaurant that did gluten free food as we had two coeliacs. We found Tracks on Point did, so we rang to book, but in a Thursday night there wasn’t a need as there few other customers. Seven of us scanned the menus laminated to the tables, placed our orders to meet various dietary needs and chose from a small but interesting selection of beers, wines and soft drinks. The cook seemed to have some difficulty comprehending the need to keep gluten free food fully separated from the rest of the food, but eventually he got the point and proceeded to prepare a number of different burgers that were delicious and quickly consumed. Our serving person was excellent and one of the most polite people we have ever had serve us.

Disappointed and left hungry

We were really hoping for a great meal here, but the first night we tried, we were told that the wait would be over an hour - for a burger! Mind you this was after 130 odd people exited from the nearby play and quick/simple eating options with kids is inadequate. Second night we thought we would try our luck and have dinner there as soon as it opened. Only three of us ate burgers because they were out of salmon and I couldn’t stomach a frozen (thawed via microwave) vege patty. Overall, we left disappointed

Disappointing

I would not recommend if you have a dietary requirement. My GFO was not enjoyable. Bun was rock hard, way too much bbq sauce, the ends of tomatoes I would throw away, chips too salty. However, my partner did mostly enjoy his meal.

Eat somewhere else

I don’t know why two burgers takes an hour to cook. Seeing as how my beef burger came to me luke warm, perhaps they were trying to catch the salmon for my wife’s burger? The staff clearly had other things to do, such as greet friends or send texts. Considering this place was highly recommended by a local, it was a bitter disappointment.

Not sure how there are good

Not sure how there are good reviews here, maybe we selected the wrong menu items! Scones were doughy and unpleasant to eat with little plastic packs of jam. We also ordered pancakes. Waited far too long then were told there were no bananas for the Nutella and caramelised bananas and ice cream. We were offered to have the bananas replaced with honeycomb and marshmallows. Waited ages again and then we received pancakes with choc sauce and marshmallows no ice cream, no Nutella! But the worst thing? They were inedible! The inside was like glue! The Wilderness Railway is amazing, but eat elsewhere..

Situated in the old station waiting room, this cafe serves a basic menu which features hamburgers. Yes, the cafe has a timber floor and not a lot of ambiance, but the food is great! The cook works right there in view, and service is prompt and friendly. A great place to eat.

Thank you for your review, while we have beenbeing closed since March we are now back open and look forward to others experiencing our great burgers, shakes and pancakes as well as being fully licensed. We trust everyone will enjoy it as much as you have and appreciate the heritage building that has been beautifully restored with original timber floors and huon pine mantles around the now gas fires places for those chilly days.
