We bought fish and chips for a picnic at the waterfront across the road. Very enjoyable as was our visit to Stanley in general.

We were staying in Stanley on our 6th night of our 10 night tour of Tasmania, and were literally staying across the road from this place. We popped over after check in to look at the menu and we were hooked. For entrée, hubby had lobster cocktail and I had Lobster Supreme, for mains, hubby had the pan fried scallops... More

I had takeaway fish and chips for two to share. Best flake, calamari rings, scallops, prawns, and great chips, not cheap at $50 for two, but so worth it.

We drove over to Stanley for dinner during our stay at the Winged House at Table Cape on the recommendation of one of the locals working there, as my mum was seeking a place with good crayfish. We certainly were not disappointed. I have always loved the atmosphere of picturesque Stanley and this was a great opportunity to revisit. Hursey... More

Had takeaway. The service was helpful and friendly from the staff member downstairs. I had battered flake which was lovely, melt in the mouth fish and crunchy batter and the chips were yummy too. The lobster we had with it was fresh and tasty served with a small salad and nice seafood sauce. My wife's grilled fish was a bit... More

We called into Hursey Seafoods for lunch after a day trip to Stanley from Launceston. The food was nothing short of sensational and the service was great too. We started with fresh local oysters and the lobster supreme (curried lobster), seriously the best oysters we have had in a long time. The curried lobster was amazing. We then had the... More

Seemed like a busy and popular place when we visited so we splashed out and bought a lobster to takeaway and head down to the waterfront. We were told they were fresh today! this was very doubtful due to the black and slightly decaying spots discovered when we took a closer look. Very disappointed.

We appreciate your feedback Sharon D. Given your doubts over the quality and freshness of the cray you purchased and that you likely didn't go far from us to enjoy your meal (we're right on the waterfront), we're wondering why you didn't bring your cray back to discuss it with us so we could address your concerns in person and... Hursey Seafoods, based in Stanley Tasmania, is a major catcher of the renown Southern Rock Lobster (crayfish). Patrons can purchase a range of seafoods; wholesale, takeaway or dine-in for lunch or tea.

In 1974 James Snr and Valerie Hursey relocated from Dover (Sth East Tasmania) to Stanley (Nth West Tasmania). In 1987, to complement a growing company fishing fleet, a commercial factory/takaway/dine in premises was established as a memorium to James Snr and Valerie's son, Patrick, who was lost at sea attempting to rescue an adventurer, rowing across Bass Strait.

In June 2015, the property was extensively renovated and now seats 100 diners, overlooking the bay and nestled under the Stanley Nut. Hursey Seafoods' fleet of nine vessels catches Southern Rock Lobster, Giant Crab, Stipey Trumpeter, Gummy Shark, flathead and other local reef fish. Lobster is retained live in sea tanks on premises, which ensures supply all year and provides consumers with the very best taste.

Hursey Seafoods is open every day, apart from Christmas, for lunch and dinner.
