Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Drove up from Bicheno to have lunch. Coffee took 15mins yo arrive which was OK but the food took another 45mins. Slice of quiche and a bit of salad fir me and a pie for hubby. So don't know why it took so long as...only 3 other tables. Food was good but not worth the wait.More

Stopped here to stretch our legs and get a takeaway coffee. But once inside we stayed for more. Coffee, “savoury” food and cakes were great. We couldn’t resist stocking up on the dried fruits and other Australia produce. And even bought some fresh undies! This...place stocks all sort of surprises. Then when you think you’ve heard it all, you get some erudite and well-informed political discussions. We loved this place. Ended up stopping for an hour - fantastic.More

Doubles as a whole foods store and cafe: it is a lovely, warm, inviting space that serves great coffee and has an excellent range of gluten free cakes to accompany - however, we found the service to be fairly slow albeit friendly so probably not...an option if you are on a schedule.More

We stopped for coffee at this lovely, creative cafe. The owner is wonderfully welcoming and friendly, a true gem who has created an original menu and great coffee. Stop in for coffee or a meal at this truly hospitable cafe when visiting the area or...driving the Esk Highway.More

Not being health food people, we were a little concerned about the sort of food that a cafe here would sell. We needn’t have worried. We opted for their rhubarb cake to share and a hot chocolate each. What a great choice on a cold...windy day. The rhubarb cake was heated, delicious and home made. The hot chocolate tasted like old fashioned rich cocoa. Staff were incredibly friendly and sharing wasn’t a problem. This is definitely a great place to eat.More

While traveling from Swansea to Launceston, we decide to stop for a quick coffee and snack and came across the Purple Possum. There must have been other travelers and possibly locals inside therefore the little cafe filled up rapidly with the 8 of us and...I assume the reason for delays with the service of food, coffees/teas. The food was nice and half way through our meals 2 local gents popped into the cafe, sat down with their guitar type instruments and provided us with their music and hospitality ... what a pleasant surprise.More

Stopped in for coffee and cake, and everything was great. Rhubarb cake was absolutely divine, coffee was fantastic. The shop is also full of loads of stuff to buy. The only downfall was that because lots of people had ordered just before us, we got...our cake first and then about 20mins later the coffees, would have been nice to have everything fairly close together. But would definitely visit again.More

Had soup and sourdough. Soup was really lovely but very stingy on the bread. One pretty small piece was it. Could have had at least two to be more filling and better value for money. With very limited food outlets in St Marys they were...very busy which meant a bit of a wait and if seated near the counter, people standing in very close proximity to your table which was not ideal.More

We found this looking at reviews for scallop pies. They didn’t disappoint! Lovely little cafe, plenty on the menu with some ready made vegetarian pies and quiche available also. They had a booster for our toddler.

Really wanted to like this place as the reviews were very good and it got a mention at our accomodation as a nice place to go. Unfortunately it wasn’t great. Went for breakfast and the eggs were the most bland, dry and basic we’ve ever...had out and about. Gave up after a few mouthfuls. Coffee was ok as was a very small toasted foccacia. The menu had an error on whether something was available gluten free or not and the service was pretty basic at best. It’s also fine to get people to order at the counter but it’s good to give people the menu to have a look at when they come in. Maybe breakfast just isn’t their thing and a cake and coffee later in the day might have worked out better. Definitely an interesting quirky shop though.More

We are doing the great eastern drive, and I was recommended to try this place along the way, especially because I am a vegan, so I was really looking forward to it, however we got there at 3:20pm on a Monday, and it felt like...we were a burden right away since they were closing at 4pm, they wouldn’t do a wrap because they said the kitchen was closed, they only wanted to reheat things, I accepted this and ordered something else, however, they seemed bitter about everything, and whilst the food was nice, the attitude was a total turnoff and therefore I honestly wouldn’t recommend it.More

Seriously how long does it take to cut the a piece of cake. Took ten minutes for the coffee to come out and finished that and still waiting for the bloody cake. Well after half an hour we got the food ordered. Dont know why...the rhubarb cake is famous, as could have been carrot cake....no rhubarb flavour. Wont be back.More

What a great little place! Tasty, healthy food, friendly staff & a gorgeous outdoor garden eating area. Plenty of gluten free & veg options too. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
