Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

LOVED this place. Great to sit amongst the books while drinking good coffee & eating a delicious date scone (big enough to share!). Also managed to add a few pieces to the communal jigsaw 👍definitely a lovely change from the many 'cookie cutter' cafes that...are often found in tourist areas.More

An interesting venue with a wide range of second-hand books for sale. Friendly and engaging owners, they provide a good coffee. Unfortunately, limited gluten free cake options available.

Coffee was burnt & milk was scalding hot not pleasant. The food was pleasant enough but it is all frozen then thawed out & heated ready to serve when ordering. The woman owner seems to like to gossip about things going on in this small...town.More

Very generous servings of beautiful fresh food. Lovely setting. Friendly owners. Great coffee. The Anzac biscuits looked amazing but I had no room after the generous sandwich

We were hanging out for a scallop pie & saw a small sign on the corner of the street. Glad we went. It took a while to come out of the kitchen but well worth the wait!! Scallop pie & salad. The scallop pie was...full of scallops with just the right amount of curry & the salad had slices of fig, dried apricot, as well as the usual salad ingredients as well as half a hard boiled egg. Great value too at $18.00More

A rainy day in St Helens and we needed something else to read. Coffee was great, date scone sensational and wonderful selection of second hand books. While we were there a constant stream of people arrived all chatty and friendly. Definitely a place to stop.

Even with the Festive Season rush...(22nd) it was nice to visit again this BOOKSHOP CAFE and get the usual homely service and meals to which we have all become accustomed. Bringing visitors and friends from around Australia and Overseas gives them a taste (pun intended)...of our beaut 'Fare' on offer in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere with a Book for Everyone! This time it was the magnificent Scallop Pie and Meat Pie & Relish to satisfy the taste buds and GREAT Coffee & Tea... So much to choose from at this relaxed Cafe... please come, chat and enjoy as we do!More

This is an excellent secondhand bookshop with coffee and food away from the main tourist area of St Helens. The bookshop is excellent, the people are very friendly and the food looks promising. Unfortunately, the coffee was served extremely hot, the milk was burnt and...the coffee was undrinkable. We left two virtually untouched cups and left - we think that is only the third time ever we have done so.More
