We stayed here 2 nights with extended family with 2 rooms booked. First off, the location was very good located virtually on the waterfront and a 5-minute stroll into town. It is a tired building overall with ok rooms but they have seen better days....A key drawback for us was that rooms were upstairs and there is no elevator. If I had realised that, I would not have booked this accommodation. This made it difficult as two of our party are elderly and the stairs were a struggle. Lucky we didn't have much luggage so I managed that. The rooms were clean enough but fairly worn- great views across the water. The restaurant on site and downstairs was good with nice service, a good menu, and tasty food. This was probably the highlight of the property I think. Would probably look elsewhere in St.Helens next time we stay there but would probably dine at the Bayside Inn.More

The worst meals you can get. I asked something called "Creamy prawns with rice" which was worst than dog food. The sweet potato chips was greezy and old. The fish and chips taste terrible not from fresh fish from the Wharf next door, but frozen...ones. Expensive meals that taste yesterday's food. Even the staff's smile didn't help. No one asked me or my family why we didn't eat the food. Probably they know the answer. Never more.More

When we arrived we were somewhat surprised as we didn't realise the hotel is actually attached to a pub which from the street wasn't appealing at all. Check in was at the pub as there was no-one at the reception.  Surprisingly the room was big...and quite comfortable - but we were told we have one of the better rooms. There is no lift to take your luggage upstairs so not great when you are lugging a lot up and down stairs. Parking was outside the pub, although we didnt feel that was a safe place to park, it was ok in the end but glad we only stayed one night. For what it was, we thought it was expensive.More

Worste dinning experience I have ever endured the food was appuling 90% of the food on a 3 coarse was uneaten due to being cold dry overcooked and rubbery food didnt even resembled the dishes on the menu service was slow unorganized and incompetent with...mains coming out before guest hadn't even received their entrees kids had to wait an hour just for a bowl of chips only saving grace was the bar staff to save the day but overall very disappointing and upsetting for a couple on there special dayMore

Location is good by the bay and kids park. Amenities are close and good options for food nearby. Rooms are quite spacious but overall the property is quite dated and needs refurb. Vista hotel and pub is quite handy downstairs for quick drink and bite.

We went here for Easter lunch with a crowd of 11, Half of the tables meals came out with the rest of us waiting half an hour for the rest! Kids meals were easily executed and quick. The roast was cold and it was old...meat potatoes burnt and inedible. Waitress didn’t know what was what none of our sauces came out waitress was quick to pass the blame instead of owing it and making it right! Other meals were average. We won’t returnMore

Wondered why when I walked in why so many plates of food had been left hardly eaten ! Gordon Ramsay please take a visit ASAP Tasteless food , that I could not eat and returned the food and was offered a full reason without a...question being asked as it was obvious why ... This place is charging premium restaurant prices for food that is just dreadful - a roadside caravan has better food . The fault is clearly with the owners and management of this place as the staff were wonderful but clearly unstaffed and upset with apologising all day for the crap food and and the delays in receiving customers orders ( 90 mins to receive fish and chips with salad - was it frozen ? ) with tears in there eyes. Staff 5 star Food no stars Experience no stars Visit as your peril ☹️More

Stayed for 2 nights whilst we visited the area. Rooms were clean and spacious and the bed comfortable. Our room was on the town side, getting the afternoon sun but road noise ceased around 8:30PM for a quiet night. The bistro downstairs served nice meals...which were reasonably priced.More

Stayed for 2 nights on a bike trip around Tassie. We had spacious rooms overlooking the water. Rooms very clean and had everything we needed. Right in the Main Street so easy walk to shops for brekky or supplies. Had a meal in the bistro,...typical pub menu but very nice just the same.More
