Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Best place for fish & chips in St Helens which is situated at the Wharf. A great variety of seafood you can order. Not a lot of seats available but it was nice to sit on the concrete slabs anyway. Their unique buzzer system was...great, not a loud buzz but a guy saying your order is ready ya hearties.More

Outrageous price for fish and chips. $30.50 for grilled flake and chips for one. I'm not sure if I'm more outraged at the price or that I paid that amount for it instead of walking out. It's $21.50 for battered and somehow becomes $9 more...for less work and ingredients. Even $21.50 is insane. On the plus side the staff were very friendly .... somehow I feel like that was part of the con to get me to pay nearly 3 x what I paid last time I bought fish and chips. I could have bought a second hand fishing rod and bait for that price. Enjoy that $30.50 because I won't be back.More

They are not coeliac friendly. Advertise they do GF chips and will offer grilled fish. Day we went - sign out front says no chips due to potato shortage in 2023. Went up the road and had no problems with GF.

Basically a fish and Chip shop at the marina. It’s not actually floating, yes it is over the water. Traditional seafood take away fare at St Helen’s Marina. Has limited fresh seafood for sale. On the day we visited only Flake and scallops. Could find...much in the way of fresh seafood at St Helen’s. Well worth a visit!More

Thanks for your review. We do actually float..some days we wish we didn’t though as it gets that rough on board we need to close. Glad you enjoyed your visit.

And it didn't even fill me up, tiny serve of chips and two small pieces of flake. Fish and chips is a working class staple. Did I mention it cost $21!!!

Take-away fish and chips were the order of the day for lunch. All chips are done gluten free, so with a piece of grilled fish this was to my liking. The fish was flake, it was fresh and oh so tasty. Other seafood available was...also tasty - wife had a seafood chowder which she thoroughly enjoyed.More

The fish and chips were perfect, so fresh and beautifully cooked. The view is lovely and the service was friendly and quick. If this review was just about the food and service 5 stars hands down, but it is on the expensive side with a...portion of fish and chips setting you back $19. I would definitely recommend for the food and view but if you’re on a budget or a family with small children you could get 2 of those boxes and an extra small chips on the side, as each box has 2 thick pieces of flake. The boxes see a generous portion size and you could get away with sharing if you ordered extra chips. Overall a great experience but on the pricy side.More

The battered fish was amazing (the slice of lemon cut through the oil in the batter. Nice chips and the calamari and scallops were great. Great stop for an easy lunch.

So disappointing and so expensive. $19 for fish and chips and an extra $9 to grill it! It wasn’t tasty either, $48 for very average takeaway fish and chips!
