Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is our go to place for lunch. Exceptional food, fantastic service and great price. The Tassie Fish n Chips cannot be beaten. Special mention to the kitchen team who always deliver delicious food with good timing and beautifully presented, regardless of how busy they are. Make sure you stop here for a meal, snack, coffee or sweet treat when you are visiting Port Arthur.

Beautiful lavender field behind this café and gift shop. It’s worth a visit. We spent $46 AUD on two kids plates, a bowl of soup and two scoops of ice cream. So, pretty high prices at the café. But the food was good. We had chicken tenders with chips, a very good fish and chips, plus the squash soup. Taste lavender ice cream. And equally pricey gift shop. For example, $2.40 AUD for a post card. Lots of nice things in the shop. The bathroom was clean. Plenty of parking out front. Pleasant servers. Comfortable decor.

Our family of 5 enjoyed our late lunch on a rainy day at Port Arthur Lavender. Although it seemed very busy and we had to queue up to order, our food arrived within about 10 minutes and was fresh and delicious. The poached eggs with corn fritters and chutney tasted homemade, while the bacon and eggs and eggs florentine ordered by other family members were also very tasty. The only reason I am not rating it 5 stars is that the sweet potato, coconut and chilli soup ordered by my daughter was really very, very hot. Even my husband, who loves spicy food, found it to be way too spicy. She then ordered a vegetarian panini, which arrived quickly and was delicious.

Seeing the beautiful location we decided to stop over for dinner. Our first impression changed after dealing with the service. They struggle to understand what we ordered and then brought the wrong drinks three times. Yet, one drink never arrived. The food was apparently reasonable priced. Unfortunately, it all changed once we received our so called “taste of tasmania” meal. Apart from falling short in quantity, it was as though they served canned stuff from the cheapest supermarket. We eat what it was edible and left. They did not charged for that drink that never arrived.

We came here on the 30/12 and had lavender indulgence and a pumpkin soup. The pumpkin soup was probably the worst I have ever tried. However, the lavender indulgence was delicious. We thought we would give them the benefit of the doubt. Went back the next day we shared beer battered fish and salt and pepper squid both were below average. The squid was burnt and was that thin it was like eating Burnt fried bread crumbs. The fish was dry and the service was less than acceptable. Overall this place is overpriced, under serviced and not worth the stop for lunch. They adopt a fast food approach with high prices to their dining experience.

Really really poor quality food. I had the “Beef Stack” which was not a gourmet as it sounded on the menu- literally was a poor quality steak (lots of gristle), on top of a mushy thing, and stacked onto 2 large mushrooms and covered in and stuck together with a “gravy/ sauce” that had the consistency of saliva and had no taste. My partner had the savory scones which were stodgy. Avoid

Had lunch here as we had seen it on the way to Port Arthur and decided to give it a try plus my wife loves lavender. The smell of lavender inside is very overpowering as you first walk in but after a minute it is fantastic. The food selection is pleasing well priced and was on our table 5 mins after we ordered and it was one of the best lunches I’ve had in Tasmania, well done to the owners you have created something very unique and fantastic.

Stopped in for morning tea on the way to Port Arthur and had the most beautiful hot chocolate with lavender. As we were running short on time we had a quick look at the shop and then after seeing some of the dishes that people had ordered, promised ourselves to return for lunch and shop on our return. A great decision :) on our return I decided to have the lavender scones and lavender cream and the scones were about 3 stories high !! super super tasty, nicely warmed up and the jam and the cream were outstanding. My partner ordered Tasmanian Scallop, bacon and chorizo skewers and was very impressed with it. The shop was also great and I managed to buy quite a few things in there. Would drive here again for the food and the shopping.

I love lavender so it was only fitting that I had to drag the family here for breakfast. We ordered bacon and eggs, savoury scones, lavender drinks and they made up a kids pancakes for my 5yo. Food not only presented well, but tasted good too. Service was lovely, location was pretty.

The food here is unexpectedly delicious! Everything we ordered were so yummy. The sharing platter or for 2 pax must not be missed. They also have a section selling lavender made items, and a small lavender farm outside of the cafe. Love this place, will definitely return if I have a chance to visit Port Arthur again.

Good place for an informal lunch. The menu is not expansive but what they do is produce some quality food. Much of the food has a lavender twist to it but it is really well done. The surroundings are really nice with some great views. A joy to visit.

We visited specifically to try the blueberry pancakes… they won’t disappoint you. (See photo) I also liked the lavender coffee latte. The products like soaps and chocolates are expensive. This is a must if you are in the area.

Delicious meals with great prices and decent serving sizes. We ordered the salmon and squid which were both fresh and very tasty. Delicious side salads. Average and dry vanilla slice (would try a different dessert next time).

Keep driving. The service is rude, food is cooked worse than you could imagine. The water is fantastic so use the toilet and fill up your water bottle but don’t bother with coffee either. It’s terrible too.

We were a family of five adults and two small children that visited the Port Arthur Lavender for lunch. This is a modern facility, lots of parking and spacious inside with many tables outside. Great food and well priced. Easy access to several patches of lavender for photos, all the fields are well kept. The restaurant has got nice views on the lake nearby and there is a lot of birds in the area. Drop in when you are in the area!!
