Visited Mt Gnomon with a group of 12. They seated us together on one table after we were initially spread across two tables. So we were off to a good start with the staff happy to ensure we had an enjoyable experience. I'm not really a shared plate person, but this was a bit different. The first platter was a charcuterie featuring a French salami, terrines etc. As well there pickled vegetables direct from the farm garden. A second platter of barbeque meats followed including chorizo sausage, chicken and absolutely fabulous cooked ham. All beautifully tasty and cooked perfectly. Some of us finished off with a very tasty rhubarb and strawberry tart again fresh from the garden. Don't miss this great lunch in an albeit strangely large barn.

I have visited the farm for the last 2 Friday evenings to catch up with friends, enjoy the music and stroll through the sunflowers at sunset. It’s a beautiful setting, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Great place to bring the kids as lots of space for them to run around. The pork bun was pretty good too!

What a great find Mt Gnoman was for a luncheon. Staff friendly and very efficient, shared platter of salami etc with homemade pickles and grilled vegetables first rate, the best charcuterie had for a long time. The deserts to die for along with excellent coffee. This venue will be added to our "go to " list. Highly recommended.

We stopped here for an overnight stay and honestly it wasn’t the best. Not sure if it is normally this slow around this time but the ‘paddocks’ were empty and it was just us. The big barn shed seemed very rundown and/or abandoned and poorly maintained. The portal loos available as ammenities were disgusting! The men’s toilet was clearly full and had been for some time, the ladies also stunk and was full of trash. Both toilets clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time and were overall unhygienic. There was excess load of broken equipment and items laying around behind the shed as well as over flowing bins and bins full of bottle overflowing and broken everywhere. The paddocks were kept nice and mowed and cleaned but around the main barn was a mess with garbage laying everywhere and made it feel unmaintained and not cared for.
The only good thing I would have to say about this location is well, where it’s located, having a beautiful view of the hills and mountains in the background with a glimpse of the ocean, this hidden location secluded from the highway and towns made it feel very nice.
Overall 2/5 stars just for those simple things and nothing to wow about during my visit.

The most delicious ham you will ever taste in your life! I adore it!! I bought some of their traditional pork sausages for a family member who is very fussy on sausages and she thought they were fantastic!!

Normally I wouldn't appreciate being seated on a hay bale in a tent for lunch but at Gnomon it just works even with the chicken wandering about.. Very friendly staff and the owner was deligated to chatting to everyone and farm tours. Small amount of chaos as our booking wasn't recorded but there was room for us.
However it was all worth it when the platter was bought out. All their own meats and local produce. Very tasty and plenty of it ,so much so we regretted ordering the main as it was do filling. Mains also very tasty. But we couldn't fit dessert in . Also good to see them serving local wines.
Gnomon is only open over summer which adds to the specialness

Delicious farm sourced meats and Tasmanian produce served in a delightful rural setting high on the hill overlooking surrounding pasture, bush and with ocean views. Just a meandering drive up the hill behind Penguin. Hay bales, free range chooks, fresh air, sparkling Tassie cider, rambling veggie garden, wholesome farm produce served in abundance, makes this an experience to be savoured.

Worth the trip inland from the coast, and just over the hill from the Ferndene Reserve.
Good basic food and friendly helpful serving staff

Attended a birthday party here. Located a few minutes out of Penguin the drive is feels long but is worthwhile. This is a working farm set at the base of the Dial range. The little restaurant on the property is immersed in the country side. Service was friendly, welcoming and cheerful. Menu was simple for the function and the food tasty, wholesome and real. Loved the country environment with memories of my farm childhood rekindled. Worth a visit and if you are a foodie it is a must.

Situated well out of Penguin on an isolated pig farm. Rustic is the word that comes to mind but appropriate. Everything is very open and well maintained. A quick tour of the piggery between courses. Meal was original and the use of organic produce and fresh fish from the sea. Serviced by young travellers from all over the world and run by local man Guy. A place to put into your "must do" list.

While it wasn't busy today, it should have been. The service was extremely good and the food delivered had that great home made feel to it with fantastic flavours. Don't expect an extensive menu, only a couple of choices for each course, but it changes regularly and what they do is worthy of any city restaurant. The choices today were a lamb and gnocchi ragout or a pork neck with fried artichokes and fennel cream. The current chef is Italian and it shows. Both mains were excellent and we also sampled some lightly fruited bread and what I would describe as the best foccacia I think I've had, freshly cooked and lightly herbed and salted. This was followed by the two choices for dessert, tiramisu and a raspberry jam crostata with chestnut and honey ice cream. My wife loves tiramisu and she thought this one ranked up there with the best she'd had, the crostata was a great follow up for the pork. The farm produces its own meats which are used in the restaurant and a of a high quality. They also sell meat through the restaurant, which I think is a great idea. Its a bit out of the way and off the beaten track, but worth the effort of getting there.

The farm practices are great, cruelty free, free range, how farming should be. Amazing bacon. Definitely worth trying.

Set in an idyllic location with views over the new cider orchard and dial ranges in the background. Sit inside at the large tables or on the veranda next to the wonderful cottage garden.
Fantastic menu that changes with each visiting chef. Pork ribs are fantastic but you can't go past the tasting plate for value and range of food. Food is divine and well worth the windy road trip up the valley from picturesque Penguin.
The staff are fantastic and happy to share their tales of travels and life on the farm.
Don't forget to ask for a tour of the farm to see the piglets.

In January 2015, we met Guy at Taste Tasmania and from that day on, could not wait to visit Mt Gnomon to sample what Eliza and Guy produce.
Fast forward 12 months and we are fortunate to be visiting Tasmania once again. A text message to Eliza to book our place and a friendly response whet our appetites.
Wow, wow, wow. Magnificent food, great location and wonderful people. We could not ask for more. A brilliant meal that surpassed our expectations.
To Eliza and Guy - thank-you for what you do so wonderfully well and with so much care.
