Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The meals (a pie and banana pancakes) were overpriced and underwhelming. My meal (the pie) was forgotten (as was a nearby table’s meals). The order numbers are small and difficult to read which made it very difficult for staff to locate the right customers. Staff...were very slow to clear snd clean tables.More

I ate the maple stack but the maple stack consumed me. The best pancakes and maple syrup I’ve ever had. Even my partner -regularly a slow eater- demolished his in record time. The cafe is in a beautiful old building and offers seating in a...lovely plant filled courtyard. Will definitely be stopping in on our way through Oatlands again.More

Stopped for a bite to eat and were not disappointed. Our group of 4 sat outside in the quaint little backyard seating area and ordered the 100% homemade; Chunky Beef Rump Pies, Lasagne and Cornish Pastie. What can I say other than YUM!!! Very generous...serves. We all tried each other’s dishes and loved them too. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. If we were locals I’d eat there very regularly 10/10More

On our drive through the Midlands, we decided to stop at Oatlands for a late lunch. Based on the T/A reviews we decided that the Pancake and Crepe shop looked like a winner. The cafe is partly located in a charming addition to an 1832...stone stable. There are tables in the old stable building (a bit dark for my liking), an indoor area, next to the front counter/kitchen, or a delightful cottage garden area outside (bit of drizzle - so we opted to sit inside). The decor is relatively quirky, even a bit kitsch, with pottery figurines, decorative teacups/tea pots and oil paintings of dogs and cats, but that sets it apart from other cafes. We rocked up just after 2pm, which was lucky as it closes at 2:30pm. Hungry, I ordered the Chicken, Bacon and Mushroom Crêpe, with chef's salad ($25) and my wife had the corn fritters with Quinoa Salad ($20). I also went with one of their milkshakes ($8). The servings were particularly generous, which was good because I was starving but it was very sloppy and messy. The crepe was swimming in a creamy sauce, which overwhelmed everything else. The chicken, mushrooms and bacon were decent sized chunks, but I found it hard to find/taste the crêpe, not certain if the grated cheese on top was necessary. My wife liked her meal but felt the quinoa could have been a little fluffy and lacked a dressing. I guess that maybe I am being a bit fussy, as I'm used to good crêpes, that aren't drowning in sauce. I would reiterate it was extremely filling, just what I needed. Was it amazing - not really.More

This was a 10 out of 10 experience. We’re a group of 10 friends, traveling from Hobart to Launceston, and stopped for coffee. The staff, atmosphere and food was amazing, definitely recommended for a stop, we love it.

We arrived expecting a great meal. We both ordered the Mexican crepe, and when it was delivered it comprised of one pancake, smothered in lasagne beef sauce, used in beef lasagne frozen meals, dry potato pieces, avocado from a squeeze tube and a dollop of sour cream...topped of with 6 corn chips....cost us $30 per serve...I could have made this dish for $7.50. My husband ordered apple crumble crepes as a dessert, there were 2 of them with 2 scoops of ice cream and 1arge dollop of canned fake cream! This dessert took over 20 minutes to arrive and We had to ask twice for the dessert. Our cutlery was replenished in a caddy on the table which was not required as we were eating our meal. a staff member using bare hands proceeded to top up eating implements touching the implements using bare hands without gloves....GROSE... very unhappy with this Cafe...no hygienic rules in place. WE WILL NEVER RETURN...A COMPLETE RIP OFF.More

Spur of the moment drop in on our way back to Hobart. The service and food were wonderful. I had the Devonshire Tea with 2 scones and homemade Strawberry jam. The scones were warm and fluffy. I chose English Breakfast as the tea option. I...wasn't disappointed. My husband had the pancakes with citrus passionfruit, icecream and cream which he said were beautiful. Being the long weekend the staff were busy but didn't faulter in anyway. Very pleasant experience. They also bake their own bread which I took home along with a cream bun and some melting moments mmm mmmMore
