Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited the Bush lnn today for lunch, it was also a bit of a sentimental visit, because my mum worked here as a teenager 75 years ago. The staff were ok, except for the guy behind the bar who could've been a lot more friendly...and inviting. l ordered the battered fish of the day, and l can honestly say it is the worst pub meal l have ever eaten, which is disappointing as you would think the chef would know how to cook fresh local seafood. The fish was overcooked by about five minutes, the batter tasted burnt, the salad was not fresh, and the chips were also very ordinary. Would've been better buying from a fish and chip shop and sitting by the river. Sadly my last visit to this lovely old pub.More

Well I have to say, I was a bit worried, but after a couple of drinks on their fantastic deck with live music, I was won over. Then I saw the dining area and knew I’d be staying for dinner. These guys reopened, I believe,...6 months ago and they’ve hit the ground running. We had the scotch which was cooked exactly as we asked. Vegetables aren’t cooked till all the good stuff is left behind which is excellent. Would I come back, hell yeah, will I be watching them to see what great heights they will go to, and I’m sure they will, you can guarantee it.More

We are locals and have been to the Bush Inn many times; in recent visits we have been dissatisfied for various reasons but we have a 3 strikes policy which allows for anomalies. Tonight the food was ordinary and the service provided by the floor...staff was poor. Erin is mechanical and cold; she ruin the experience.More

Ignore old reviews the new owners have tranformed this historic pub. Very welcoming, staff are incredibly tell trained. How many pubs have white linen on on the tables in the dining area. Food was very good. Great views over the River Derwent from the deck....don't miss out on this great venue.More

Excellent portions and delicious food for a pub. The vegies were the best we have had. The staff were amazing, friendly and prompt.

I came here with family for lunch last week. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We had fish of the day for lunch. We asked where the fish came from and the kitchen staff were happy to tell us that it was all locally...sourced. I really enjoyed my sticky date pudding for dessert. It was a pleasant experience and I hope to visit again.More

I stopped at the Bush Inn for lunch, the service from the waitress to the chef was exemplary. We had the fish and banger with mash and it was magnificent. Well done

We were recommend to go here by the Explorers Lodge for dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed the friendly manner and banner of Tim and we thought that the young wait staff were friendly and very attentive. They were very quick to enquire if we needed anything,...and we're engaging. The meals came out super quickly and we're delicious. The surrounds/decour were beautifully done to compliment to heritage of this old pub. I would definitely recommend this place for a meal. Two very satisfied full customers 🙂More

My partner and I went for lunch on the Sunday after the AFL Grandfinal. We tried to get a drink at the bar, but when we said we wanted lunch we were moved on to the dining area, without being served a drink, and there...we were told to wait 5 minutes for a table to be cleared as we didn't have a reservation. After another 15 mins another group without a reservation asked after meals and also were told to wait 5 for a table to be cleared. Ten minutes later this group were told to come through to sit at a table and we were completely ignored. We left without even having so much as a drink and probably won't be back anytime soon or recommend it to any of our friends and work mates. David, New Norfolk.More

Yes it was their first day and we expected teething issues, but what we saw and heard especially coming out of the kitchen was completely unacceptable. Chefs wiping their heads and noses with tea towels and then not washing hands, sending out disgusting food and...telling the waitresses to bring it back if customers don’t like it, orders incorrect, to the arrogance of once of the chefs when approached about the tartare sauce, standing around waiting to be seated while the owner walked past us at least 4 times, again unacceptable. Saving grace was Tim who was completely and genuinely sorry for the experience had by our group. At least he didn’t brush our complaints under the carpet unlike the owner. Small country pub where many locals would go. First and last time we will be coming. After the experience it’d be safer to eat at McDonalds.More

Waitresses were forgetful. If your a Senior, don't count on a menu. Your expected to pay full price. The owner, informed me, they are looking after parents who have to support children! They concentrate on a mother's day out, with their children, running around, NOT...SEATED. WHICH I CAN'T STAND. The new owners, thought it amusing, that, I did not enjoy children having fun, making a racket, whilst eating. 😴 Seniors on one Pension, also support each other, and often dealing with an ill partner. Seems like, a bit of discrimination to me. Some elderly, walked out of the food eating area, due to no Seniors menu!! NO bread and butter plates to put our garlic bread on. Hot food was placed on top of salad. The salt and pepper squid was lovely and tender. This place has potential, but, the new owners, NEED TO CARE and not only about mother's with children as was told to me, by the owner. Time will tell if in the long term it survives. Many have tried and failed. 😣😣😣More

Went for a weekday lunch. New renovations look great. Staff were good but still learning the ropes. Unfortunately the food wasn't great. The kids meal and garlic bread came out fast, the garlic bread is very small roll heated in microwave and tough as boots....I think they forgot the 3 other mains as 40 min later after asking our meals came out. By then the baby had finished her meal and started to become fussy well before adult meals came out. Chicken schnitzel was cooked too hot and crumbs were burnt and chicken dry. Steak had been forgotten and had 2cm thick charcoal on the bottom, was very tough. Fish was also very dry. We are hoping all this is only teething problems as the venue location and renovations are fantastic.More
