Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a fantastic meal. Loved the menu and will definitely return to try the drunken chicken! The shin beef casserole with local mushrooms and parsley dumplings was a winter winner and good old fish and chips was done right, with proper crispy chips. Bring...your appetite, servings are generous, so no dessert for us this time, we'll have to come back and try the apple pie!More

Fish in the Fish n Chips way over cooked and dry might have been the worst I've ever had in Tasmania, rest of the meals were pub grub. Our overseas guest enjoyed the chowder and kids liked the slap together cheese burgers.

Use to be a pub for locals with a pub menu. Really keno and a gourmet menu. What happened to catering for locals. Shack owners want pub meals. Tourist would embrace the same. I'd recommend the lodge for better value

Firstly, the service is slow. Make sure you have plenty of time. Staff, food and atmosphere are all excellent. Serving sizes are huge and though the menu is not huge there is an excellent cross section. We enjoyed our time and had good friends to...chat with. The whole experience was well worth it. We were expecting there to be some locally fished trout on the menu but they missed that trick. You must come if you get the chanceMore

Having booked a table for 1pm, we arrived early and were take to our table without fuss. The food was excellent with a range of dishes. There is a nice beverage selection of mainly Tasmanian wines with many ciders, beers and cocktails. Lovely view. Prebooking...due to the hotels isolation and the current lack of available staff is common sense.More

We enjoyed dinner at the Great Lake Hotel and enjoyed the ocean trout and venison pot pie. The food was tasty and plentiful, and the service helpful and friendly. The deserts were not at the same level as the mains, but acceptable nonetheless. There is...a nice view from the restaurant over the lake.More

My husband and I have been dining at this hotel for 10 years & never a complaint from us. We dined here especially during winter months, which is especially nice with the big Fireplace. We are looking forward to this new chef coming up with...new creations for the usual travelers & also catering for the the food & wine connoisseurs.More

What a ridiculous way to run a business. You would think that in this economy a business would want to make as much money as possible buy not this pub. We visited on a Sunday and if you hadn't made a booking for lunch you...couldn't get any food, not even snacks for the rest of the afternoon. Even though we had a table in the pub side and were spending money on drinks for 7 people they still wouldn't serve us food, not even hot chips. We left there hungry and found another pub that wanted our money and we ended up spending over $220 just on food there. Most of the employees were friendly except for one older woman that was extremely rude and needs to retire. I strongly suggest you eat before arriving at the pub or you will leave hungry.More
