Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was our best meal on KI (admittedly we didn't get to the highly regarded Wild Harvest). The views from the dining room over the course and KI coast were exceptional, the atmosphere was friendly and inviting and the meals proved excellent, even if the...menu fairly limited. Most of the people in our group had the KI beef, which we agreed was the best choice.More

Great View, and nicely spaced out Restaurant and Bar, and caters for walk-ins. Good selection of Beers on tap, and by the bottle, including some local stuff

View Dining is located in one half of a large room that stretches the length of the King Island Golf Club. The other half contains the bar and tables and chairs for people chatting and drinking as well as an outside verandah area. The two...halves are separated by some planter boxes. What this means is that if there are a large number of people in the bar area or on the verandah, as there was on the night we visited, it can be extremely noisy. The restaurant has great views over the golf course and the coast although these would have been better had the windows been cleaner. Menù was interesting with a choice from five entrees (range $15 - $18) and six mains ($28 - $42 for the KI eye fillet). We had the crispy octopus with romanesco purée and pickled cucumber and blueberry ribbons and the pork belly and Tassie scallops with apple and fennel salad. Both of these dishes unfortunately were a miss. The crispy octopus had been over cooked and was very chewy while the pork belly was more fat than meat. We faired better with the mains where we had the pan seared salmon with seasonal vegetables and polenta and the KI eye fillet with potatoes and seasonal vegetables although the fillet was cooked more than I would have liked. You ordered your meals via a waitress at the table and drinks at the bar. Given the previous very favourable reviews we were disappointed with the food and the venue. Would not dine here again.More

The restaurant was packed on the night of our visit but the staff were terrific and the food was excellent. Thoroughly recommended with views over the golf course and wild ocean. We booked in advance

Played the composite course with friends. Great little course. Very basic layout, but still a reasonable challenge. The golf and bowling club is run by volunteers, so it is a credit to them. The bowling green was in top condition. The club house is basic...but the beer was cold and the staff warm and friendly. We sat outside as the weather was fantastic. Ordered some pies from the bakery in Currie and with permission ate them on the deck with ice cold pale ale. If you want the famous crayfish pie get in early and be prepared to wait 15 minutes or so as they don't keep them warmed up. Worth the wait. The other pies and pasties were fantastic best pies by a country mile.More

Heard the food was pretty good and it lived up to it. Very friendly staff, the restaurant is a separate business to the golf course and bar. Had a range of interesting dishes with a Mexican/Caribbean theme...generous serves. Being a gold club house the atmosphere...is a little stark...minor issue...More

We wanted a restaurant with a view so booked New Years Eve at the Restaurant at the King Island Golf Club. We had a simply excellent meal. I took the special Scotch Fillet and Kaye the pork loin. Both were simply great. My understanding is...that the restaurant has been taken over by those who run Bischoffs Cafe and it is a good move. We were simply surprised at the quality and would recommend the venue. I was disappointed that the panna cotta had run out, but sticky date pudding, when done well, was a welcome replacement.More

Great views of ocean and course, not supported by the all-you-can-eat Chinese food The meal was pricey for a limited selection of food that was sparse and cold I would not go again

Visiting my family we returned for a mid week meal at the golf club and once again I can not fault the food Robert Wang serves. We had the spring rolls to start which come with a tasty ginger infused dipping sauce. We then shared...a szechuan beef and a satay chicken both a large serve with plenty of vegetables and both beautifully cooked. The service was friendly and the atmosphere welcoming, a great place to visit.More

A fortnight of western-type meals and we were craving something familiar and spicy. We discovered a reprieve in, of all places, the King Island Golf & Bowling Club!!! Mr Robert Wang hails from China but has lived in Australia like... forever. Our first dinner (yes,...we returned!!) was confined to Asian food from the menu. Cooked the Chinese way, the stir-fried vegetables glistened and retained their colour, were crunchy and tasty. For our encore, 2 nights later, we enjoyed fried dumplings (you call them pot stickers) off menu. Served with a special sauce, we were transported across the oceans to Asia... Wait staff were courteous, friendly and aimed to please. You’ll be astounded by how reasonably priced your meal will turn out to be, despite the million dollar views overlooking the golf course and Bass Straits.More

We emailed the manager, Mark before we arrived and were struck by the friendliness and helpfulness he showed. He suggested we played on the Saturday morning roll up and we joined in with the members for 18 holes. Playing with Gerry (the bandit) with a...swing to die for and a handicap of 26 (should be 8) was a great experience. The course was bone dry but the greens well tended and a fair test. The local wind conditions made it a testing day for the visitor but the locals took it in their stride. Club hire was ten dollars and trolley 5 dollars and a round was 30 dollars. When the clubhouse is unattended, clubs can be hired from the local IGA supermarket in Currie. We loved the atmosphere in the clubhouse, the friendly members and the well-stocked bar. For those who don’t want to pay the silly prices in the other two golf courses at Cape Wickham and Ocean Dunes this is just perfect. I would strongly recommend it.More

This local golf course is a nice 9-hole layout with alternative tee and pin positions. It is quite well laid out and the greens are in great condition. This is a good warm up course for Wickham and the Dunes as it allows you to...get used to the wind and different greens. Come back to the club house for a beer or two and it has also a good wine list. We had a simple lunch followed by King Island cheese platters and the guys behind the bar are great.More
