About
Here at The Elimatta we have a large Bistro that over looks the Mersey River in Devonport. We can seat up to 260 people which enables us to cater for a simple table for 2 a larger booking of up to 60. Lunch service is between 12-2pm and Diner From 5:30pm We have all day dining from our bar menu. This you will find in both the Front and Back bar. ACCOMMODATION We have 12 Motel rooms located at the back of the premise. These rooms are recently renovated. They contain a Queen Bed, Ensuite, Heat Pump and Tea and Coffee Facilities.

After a day doing touristy things around northern Tasmania, we found ourselves look forward a restaurant that didn’t require bookings and which took food orders till around 8pm - quite a challenge in Devonport! The Eli Restaurant within the motor inn met these criteria and we arrived around 7:45, ordered pasta dishes which were promptly delivered a delicious. My chicken carbonara was excellent as were our Dalrymple Sauvignon Blanc wines a available by the glass. Overall we enjoyed our meal.

We ate at this hotel over 2 days. Lovely staff, nice dining area. Meals were good, there was an issue with soup but the staff handled this well and arranged a replacement. The only thing that could improve was the cleaning of tables, the table tops were wiped but not chair backs where patrons put their hands or the salt and pepers were not wiped over. This was seen each time a table was cleared.

The Bistro meal was nice , and the staff in that area were lovely however my review relates to the gaming area and the abysmal service in that area
We had to call out and/ or wait ages for any staff to appear. They were not serving other people…. They just were out the back. The girl literally sighed when she had to come out to serve me
It was very poor ( non) hospitality service

The wife and I decided on a date night meal at The Eli. We where let down prices gone up meals have gotten smaller one staff member was sour and everything was just to hard . Ordered steak and salad medium rare got extremely well done no salad and was tiny (see photo ) . Will be having a break from here for awhile

We went to lunch thinking - it’s a nice view by the river. I ordered a steak and my wife ordered a chicken breast with creamy garlic sauce.The steak sandwich consisted of two pieces of toasted sourdough with no butter, an egg, burned bacon, a bit of lettuce and tomato with a nice piece os steak, and about $0.50 worth of chips ($28).
The chicken breast was just that, with $0.50 worth of salad and the same amount of chips.
Rubbish food and over priced. Will not return which is a shame because we have been to the Eli a few times in the past. Not now

Very disappointing. I expect good food when going out for a meal, even if it's cheap, but this was not cheap I paid $48 for eye fillet, chips and salad. I pay $50 at a local quality restaurant for eye fillet with beautifully cooked vegetables. I asked for medium rare, steak was overcooked, wouldn't even say it was medium. The other meal was lamb cutlets that looked and tasted like cheap lamb chops. I use to love the Elli for a pub meal and didn't mind paying a bit extra, but definitely wont be going back for a long time.

My family had dinner here last night for my Sister in laws 21st birthday. Customer service was great and I found that my wheelchair got around very easily.
Overall I was very happy with the service the food and the accessibility.

The food was ok and the deserts looked amazing, we got our dinner 40 minutes after we ordered it.
Was very disappointed as went to order desert was told it was too late to order a they had closed.
If we had got our meals earlier we could have had dessert.
There where 3 young men at a table next to us were told after waiting 45 minutes were told they had another 10 minute wait or they can get their money back, well they asked for their money back and left

We are sincerely sorry that you were disappointed with your experience. We were exceptionally busy on the night in question with the majority of orders all in the later part of service, causing longer that normal wait times. We have take your comments on board though and are putting into place some systems to try and ensure all late tables are checked for desserts prior to the kitchen closing. As we are a bistro without table service for ordering, we need something else to happen to ensure people like yourself are not missed. Order drinks at the bar including some basic Tasmanian wines. Order food at another counter then the lovely staff will bring the food to your table.
This place is very popular with locals and there are less tourists here.
We shared a seafood platter (for one) and a Greek salad. We were full at the end.
As we sat and finished our wine one of the bass strait ferries went past so it was quite a special view.
They’re not about to get a Michelin star any time soon but for a good dinner with a bit of a view it will hit the spot.

Girl serving us seemed more intent on staring off into space.2 meals brought out then waitress said she'd get third.We asked for salt and pepper so she got that.No third meal brought until chef actually brought it out with a big apology.Meals were amazing and very well priced.Nice view of Mersey River.If anything staff let it down

We stopped in here for lunch during our overnight stay in Devonport.
The food was delicious and we both enjoyed our meals.
The staff are friendly and helpful
Lovely dining room with views of the water with big glass window frontage.

Typical pub meals but overpriced. I was charged $5 for a very small tub of gravy. The parmigiana was very dry and the chips were average. Staff was friendly. Ans atmosphere was nice

Good food here, nice little family pub. Had soup and gummy shark - fish was really fresh and nice. Thought it was a good little place to have dinner before we got on the Spirit.
