Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Cheesecake was wonderful; the rest of the pastries and baked goods looked really spreading too. Coffee was, however, served in a takeaway cup and tasted far from a proper artisan coffee. Hence the 3 stars.

Having had previous experience with Banjos where they serve probably the best coffee in Tassie I couldn't walk past it in Devonport either. A bit of background information : i went on two day tours from Hobart where lunch wasn't included. What the did is to stop at Banjos and you could stock up on pie, pasties , sandwiches or pastries which you would later consume for lunch. I chose the bacon & egg pie at one place and the curries egg sandwich at another. They were both delicious and the coffee is something to die for. Prompt service & great food.

I thought I would treat myself to true traditional Aussie day breaky Plain pie, cheese & bacon pie & sausage roll. The plain pie was magnificent, pastry perfect. Sausage roll small but also magnificent... my eyes too big for my belly... will hit the cheese & bacon pie for lunch. They are expensive but worth the price.

We went here after searching for a scallop pie, and went to a really well known bakery 30m south of Devonport prior that was ordinary and had no scallop pie on the menu. I’d say just pass that place by, and go to Banjo’s. While not cheap, similar in price but the best pie so far. Also good service.

It is a shame that Banjos do not wipe down their tables. I have visited their café often, as I like the food and the service but am constantly alarmed by the state of the tables, which are left with obvious debris from previous diners. In these days of increased cleaning at supermarkets and elsewhere why are Banjos not being similarly cautious? I recommend buying takeaway from Banjos.

Visiting Devonport on business from Launceston I soon worked out it was Cup Day (their big annual horse race). Not much open other than fast Indian and bubble tea. I went with the generally reliable Tasmanian bakery (Banjo's). Usual, excellent variety of pastries, pies, sandwiches, filled rolls, coffees & sweet treats. I had a Cape Grim beef & pepper pie on this occasion. Very nice. Staff were personable and restaurant was clean and tidy. No idea which 🐴 won the Cup.

During out two weeks in Tasmania we visited several Banjos Bakeries as they are consistent, have great food, especially the Scallop Pies, and quick friendly service.

This is a great bakery located in The Mall. Wide selection of bakery & pastry options at reasonable prices. My choice was the Cape Grim Beef & Pepper pie & it was sensational.

This busy bakery has a variety of fresh sandwiches, rolls, pastries, muffins and sweet treats with great coffees. Situated in the centre of the mall with indoor/outdoor seating, it is a popular place to have a quick meal/coffee. Bread and baked goods are of a high quality.
