I have had many breakfasts at Laneway and it is also my favourite cafe to use for sales meetings because I can always rely on the quality of the food, coffee and service. Laneway is conveniently located in the main centre of Devonport with plenty of parking nearby. Great coffee and one of the best breakfasts around!

We visited Laneway after disembarking off the Spirit of Tasmania, as it conveniently opened at 6.30am, and had an excellent breakfast. What a terrific choice I made: tasty chia/coconut pudding with crunchy flavoursome granola and a date paste that added just the right amount of sweetness. It was delicious, a generous serve that was sufficiently filling to keep me going for hours.

Great Choice for breakfast! We decided to go here based on the reviews and were not disappointed. Staff were friendly and provided great service. We all ordered different items from the menu and everyone enjoyed what they ate, including 3 young fussy children. They were very accomodating to what the kids wanted ordering off the menu. Would definitely recommend.

Headed here based on reviews. Was very busy, so seated ourselves, grabbed our own menus and water. Went in and asked to order, as we had been seated for 15/20 minutes without seeing a wait person. Food and drink took another 40 minutes to arrive. Large servings, so good value there, but the smashed avo was poorly executed with hard yolks and bitter tomatoes; and the apple crumble waffles were a bit flavourless. The coffee was really good, so definitely recommend grabbing one of those.

The overnight Spirit sailing from Melbourne docks very early in Devonport and we were driving off the boat by 6.15am looking for a hearty breakfast after the very average dinner on the Spirit. We avoided the early morning cafe’s near the terminal thinking that would be where all the disembarking pax would head. Drove into the city in the early dawn and a google search told us the Laneway Cafe opened at 6.30 am and had good reviews. Make that excellent reviews as we were welcomed (already about half full), seated and served by a most delightful, friendly and efficient young lady. Orders placed, and thinking it may be a little wait as the kitchen looked busy. Wrong !!! Our cooked breakfasts arrived very quickly and was hearty and delicious. I had to complement the chef on our way out (it’s a somewhat open kitchen and we walked right past him to exit). This is definitely to GO TO place for breakfast when disembarking the Spirit. Highly recommended.

Based on the reviews of this cafe on this app I thought I would try it for brunch. If you take your car use a public car park and hoof it. First impression rustic, exposed brickwork with a deceptive expanse and seating on ground level and slightly above ground level. Tattered vinyl bench seat for 6 and more seating to the right and back. Greeted by the barista and asked to choose a seat. QR code for Covid available and sign in. Choosing a seat wasn’t a problem. No menu’s on the tables, but found a few lying on another table. Service a bit slow and too casual for a cafe. The burgers looked great when served on another table. Eggs Benedict with ham I could smell the vinegar as the plate was placed on my table. Too much lemon juice in the hollandaise which liberally smothered everything Pepino’s/pumpkin seeds didn’t help the look. Ham salty and wasn’t that enjoyable. Perhaps it was the wrong day or the wrong order, but not impressed. Have had better.

Visited on 9/10/2021 for lunch. One of our group asked for an egg white only omelette for one of our dishes (literally just separating out the yolks before cooking the omelette). The waitress asked the chefs, who unfortunately couldn’t do that. Apart from that everything was fine. Coffee was good!

Laneway had been recommended as a good breakfast choice coming off the Spirit of Australia. It was easy to find and popular, but on a Tuesday morning we had no problem getting a table. Coffee orders were quickly taken a d fulfilled but my piccolo was pretty ordinary. Both our breakfasts were delicious and despite coffee were deemed to be sufficient to draw us back again. However, our next visit on a Sunday morning discovered a crowded premises and we didn’t have the time to wait for a table to become available and for our order to be filled.

Arriving on the Spirit early Sunday morning Lane was one of the few cafes open. It’s about a 7 min drive into Devonport from the Spirit, but almost directly across the water from the pier. Large establishment which can get extremely busy. Staff are fantastic! But extremely busy. Food was pretty good as was the coffee. Just be warned that many people from the Spirit head this way after disembarking, so food and drinks can be very slow. Good bathroom and easy parking. Try the Farmers Mess, delicious.

We were very glad to find that Laneway opens for breakfast at 0630 after we arrived in Devonport before dawn on the Spirit of Tasmania. The Big Vegetarian breakfast and the Terry’s Burger were great although the spinach on the veggie breakfast was salty for some reason. The coffee we had at Laneway was excellent but we got a takeaway as we were leaving and that was a bit average.

We ate here 2 years ago and had a very different experience. This time when we came in no one seated us or even said hello. I tried to say hello to one of the breakfast cooks but he ignored me. We just sat ourselves down. Service was slow. Coffee was good. The waffles which were amazing 2 years ago alas were now not so amazing. Now they had mostly savoury toppings!? It was Boxing Day and we had just got off the ferry and so it was early (an additional young staff member got dropped off 30min after we arrived). So maybe we got them on a bad day. Regardless I would come back here over going down the road to maccas!

Went for breakfast after disembarking the spirit of Tasmania as it had received quite good reviews. The coffee was okay and the breakfasts are a big serve however it came with possibly the worst scrambled eggs I have ever had. Oily and grey and completely inedible. The down stairs seating area had The Aircon on so high, it wasn’t a hot day, that it was literally blowing the serviettes off the table. Also quite grubby. Don’t bother.

This place looks a bit dumpy from the outside but it’s got character inside. The eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and spinach was just sensational....possibly the best I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot of them). The eggs were cooked to perfection, the salmon was moist and chunky, and the hollandaise sauce was truly a work of art. The service was both friendly and amazingly fast. I highly recommend this place.

We were happy to find this little place open on a public holiday. The menu was a little different to the standard breakfast/brunch offerings to be found in many cafes, which was a pleasant surprise. We had the African Beans as one of our choices and enjoyed the dish very much. The whole experience was delightful and set us up for a day of travelling to our next destination.
