We had home delivery. Delivery was fast and friendly. Pakoras were overcooked. In fact, they were cooked so long that they were dark brown and crunchy throughout. Unpleasant. The two curries that we ordered were superb with Naan and rice, it was a delicious meal....One of the best Indian meals I've had in years. Go back factor: Very high. Well priced, generous serves, very tasty.More

Food and customer service need many improvements. Soggy biriyani and overpriced food. Butter chicken was good but looked reheated.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Devonport. The Northern Indian food is very authentic and very tasty. The owners are very friendly, helpful and are glad to advise you on the different courses. The restaurant is always clean and tidy. They also do...a great takeaway menu and are happy to deliver locally for a nominal fee. If you like Indian Curry this is the place to go!!!More

The food just wasn't as good as 9 months ago. The Vegetable Briyani was just wet and tasteless, not a herb in sight. The main dishes on the other hand were amazing.

We tried this Restaurant whilst visiting Devonport. We choice the Buffet for 2 people with 3 Mains. We supplemented the Lamb Korma for the Lamb Saag. Nothing was to much of a problem. The food was excellent & we asked for it all in medium...in spice, it was wonderful. It is BYO Wine only, just with a minimum surcharge. Next time we visit Devonport we will be back.More

Empty on a Wednesday night, ok first warming. Looks quite nice inside. After being seated I decided that I was glad I didn't want wine as they had a lot of bottles of "gossips" behind the counter. The menu is very reasonably priced, $3.50 for...soft drinks and $7 for bourbon and coke. $20.50 for main courses. There was no ambient music at all for the first 30 minutes then they put on what could be described as MTV India on a tv, totally changed the ambience for the better. The chicken tikka entree was lovely, spicy and generous. The Mango lassi could have been a bit cooler but still nice. The Punjab chef came out to check on me, I thanked him for an authentic dish. The vegetable biryani was slightly sour but otherwise quite nice. The lamb Rogan Josh was a little too mild but still tasty. All in all, well worth a visit.More

As a local, this used to be my favourite Indian restaurant but lately i have found the butter chicken to be disappointing (always order the same thing). Too runny and too strong tomato flavour, was just like drinking tomato soup. So runny that you couldn’t...even eat it with the rice, just sank through like water. Not many pieces of chicken either. Naan was dry, flavourless and burnt. I think i might start trying the other Indian restaurants for my butter chicken. Really disappointing because the staff are always friendly with good customer service.More

My wife and I dined at the Taj Mahal, Devonport for the first time last week. We have struggled to find an authentic Indian restaurant in Tasmania. We explained to the helpful waitress, Josie that we both liked spicy Indian food and she said leave...it to me and I will sort out your order with the chef. We have encountered Indian restaurants in Tasmania where the spices have been removed to accommodate for the milder Australian pallet. This we find disappointing because it ruins the fantastic taste of well-cooked Indian food. For entrée, we shared Pokora and Lamb Seekh Kebab, which arrived with a generous dish of mint sauce. Both entrees were delicious and spicy. The mint sauce was well prepared, tasty, and a nice consistency. For the main course, we shared a Chicken Saagwala (Indian Hot), Basmati Rice, and a Cheese Garlic Naan. It was cooked to perfection, Indian spicy, and very tasty. All meals arrived hot and well presented. The chicken was of great quality and very tasty. The restaurant is BYO, so we enjoyed a bottle of Ghost Rock Sav Blanc. We spoke to other diners and they all thought their meals were great!!! Full marks to waitress Josie, she was very knowledgeable, efficient, and helpful. Josie is a great asset to the restaurant as front of house. Great to have at last found an Indian restaurant that cooks authentic tasty Indian food. We will be back soon!!! Well done all at the Taj Mahal, Devonport.More

Having visited this restaurant at least 4 times we have never been disappointed. We have always had the $30 banquet. Tonight the Vegie Korma had a bit of kick which was a pleasant surprise. The Coconut Prawns had a very subtle flavour. The Beef had...plenty of flavour and melted in your mouth. The star of the show was the Butter Chicken. The smokey flavour of the chicken and sauce was delicious. The Naan bread was perfect for soaking up that creamy, smokey sauce.More

I LOVE this restaurant! The staff are always so friendly and the food is delicious. It is definitely better as takeaway, inside the atmosphere is not that great but as take-away this is one of the best meals I have ever had! The plain naan...is incredible, best one I've had, and I also love the vegetarian korma. As a vegetarian this restaurant caters for me really well and it is definitely one of my favourite take-away spots.More
