Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The drive from Strahan, with a lot of roadworks, meant a late arrival in Queenstown where we visited the museums. The lady at the Galley Museum said if the Wombat is open, the food is good. It was, and so was the service by a...very friendly and nice young woman. No toasted sandwiches, but a ham and a chicken sandwich, with fresh bread and with a choice of salads for $8.50 each, were appreciated.More

This was a little Tavern we came across on our travels whilst heading to Queenstown. The food was good and service was great.  It seems to be a favourite for travellers as there were quite a few people here, also having lunch. There is ample...seating and a great place to take a driving break.More

After a long drive from Hobart, and as the weather closed in, we were keen for some lunch. This was the first cafe/ evidence of civilisation in a while, so we quickly pulled in. There were a number of people already in the cafe, usually...a good sign, but we waited and waited to be served at the counter. The barista/server did not appear to be in a good mood, loudly placing saucers and cups on the bench as he worked. He did not acknowledge our presence at all, not even a “Hi, I’ll be with you in a sec”. Instead he proceeded to make a prior drinks order then deliver it - again, no eye contact or registering our presence. As he was moving back to the counter a little alarm was bleeping so he rudely leaned over me to turn it off at the register. No apology, nothing. Our plan to order lunch evaporated, and instead we simply ordered a coffee. We couldn’t get out of there quick enough and had lunch at the pub down the road instead.More

I'm sorry that your experience didn't go as expected. We had a temporary staff shortage and was terribly under staffed. That's probably why we were unable to attend to you in the manner we generally pride ourselves in delivering. I hope that your lunch was...More

Unfortunately, we picked a day and time when the things we wanted to order were not available. I have some sympathy for the owners as, being in a remote location, supply issues must be a constant problem for them, but it was disappointing. Nevertheless, what...we ended up ordering satisfied our appetites, and the experience was pleasant enough.More

When visiting the Derwent Bridge area this is your best place for a quick bite. The food is very good. My Burger with the works was absolutely delicious and my wife enjoyed her scallop pie. Coffee and tea available. Bathrooms and 4G is excellent.

Not a lot in Derwent Bridge so having this cafe available is most welcome. It is a pleasant venue and they do a nice coffee; plenty of adjacent parking available.

It is fair to say there aren't many eating options in Derwent Bridge and that rule also applies at the only cafe, the Hungry Wombat, where the choice is either burgers or sandwiches (toasted or plain). However, it must be said that they were quite...inventive how they mixed and matched their ingredients, especially with their burgers. Everyone in our group had a burger and everyone was happy with what they got. The bowls of chips were good too. Good range of beverages available including beers, which was just what I needed after a big hike.More

We stopped at the Hungry Wombat whilst driing south and needed a break. The food was a very welcome find, really well cooked, quickly delivered and excellent value for money. It is also very popular with the locals. You can also buy fuel here, as...well as a selection of consumer essentials. It is easy to find - just stay on the A10 and you go past it!More

Beautiful food and drinks. They had a large group there just after us, but everything came out quickly and was fresh and yum! It was cold outside too and they had the fire going so it was nice and warm!

We were unsure if this was open given many places in Tassie - particularly the west - are struggling with lack of staff since covid. It was open and while there were clearly staff who were in training, the simple burger menu (about 8 options,...each with ‘add your protein or veg pattie) gave ample choice. The coffee was reasonable, although the tea pot so small it should have just come as a teabag in a mugMore
