Stopped in hungry after a big walk, was unsure if it was even open but was served at the counter which was weired as the counter staff appeared to be be a little unsure. We ordered a bowl of chips with new sauce and a...vegetarian pizza. The chips came out so brown that it appears that the oil hadn't been changed in who knows how long , with tomato sauce, oh well. Pizza came out and it was on a store bought base. Not an enjoyable meal. Ur worse meal, since teavelling Tasmania! Not to mention the wait time from ordering to getting the meal when we were the only ones there. From reading the reviews it appears that the care restaurant really needs to pick up their game, the attitude of well we are the only option at the national park, isn't the attitude to have especially if you are wanting people to recommend going thereMore

We ate here one night while staying at the lodge and enjoyed the meal and the service from our young Japanese waitress. Meals were of a decent size and very tasty and the bread was great. I thought prices were a little high, but you...are pretty much in the middle of nowhere so it is to be expected. Disappointed that in a Tasmanian National Park the only sparkling water available was from Italy. Breakfast included in our stay rate was OK.More

My wife and I stayed here recently. We heard mixed reviews about the restaurant but we are so pleased we tried it for ourselves. The menu is fully organic and the food was beautiful, thank you Fergie.

Ate here three times (twice in cafe, once in fine dining) and all three times were pretty awful. Absent minded service (albeit apologetic), was served burnt salmon served with frozen veggies in the fine dining restaurant (after a 1.5 hour wait). The concept of calling...anything here fine dining was inaccurate in all the ways. In the cafe, we waited 2 hours at lunch time, only to be told half the order had been lost. Soup of the day changed but we weren’t informed, just served the new soup (after a 1.5 hour wait). Included breakfast also appears to use powdered eggs for scrambled eggs. HIGHLY recommend leaving for meal times or cooking your own food in camp kitchen instead of eating here. The hungry wombat cafe down the road are AMAZING, wish we’d discovered them earlier.More

Painfully slow service in fine dining section and mediocre but expensive food. Salmon fine but chicken dismal.

Low quality food and very expensive, bad service. Eat elsewhere or bring your own. Very plain fried rice was $22. I asked but couldn’t get soya sauce or sweet chilli sauce. Listed as a main but only included carrot zucchini rice and egg. :( For...a couple our bill was $75 and the food remarkably low quality.More

Staff had no idea, food was good quality ingredients cooked badly. The menu promised so much, but the delivery was well short and very disappointing, and for the money a little annoying.

Not very good food and a slow and not very dedicated service. The dishes were just eatable but it was the worst culinary experience on our tasmanian holiday but unfortunately one of the most expensive ones so the worst value for money ever

This is the only place to eat at the end of the Overland Track...literally. After 80km of walking and eating dehydrated food people are often not that fussy. The prices are pretty high although I do recognise the extra costs in running a restaurant in...a remote location. Just off the ferry and starving I ordered the full breakfast which was about $32 from memory. The food was ok although bacon a bit limp. Call me fussy but I was disappointing the plate was not warmed so the food cooled quickly and eating cold eggs and bacon is not great. Hot drinks were ok although twice they forgot the marshmallows for hot chocolate (which were 50c extra) and when asked gave us generous portions of marshmallows but very stale. Sweet potato fries were excellent.More

This is a lovely stop - not too many people, great deck bathed in sunshine and a large room inside with open fires. The layout of the room is pretty difficult - it's nigh impossible to get to the ordering spot because of crowded tables....The food selection is varied - there were no sandwiches left, lots of pies and cakes in a cabinet, but also a bistro menu. The bar was even more astonishing - I waited 10 minutes and the waiter who arrived said it wasn't 'his department'. But with direction, he found the Rose and poured a glass. He hollered for help with the price :) We ordered the mushroom soup and caesar salad. The mushroom soup had accidentally suffered a pepper mill infestation - it was pepper soup not mushroom! The caesar salad was ok but had no bacon? And it was $30 for both so not good value. But the room is lovely. Sun bathed our table. And the walk around the lake is a great bookend.More
