Outstanding service and food. Couldn’t fault anything about the establishment, comprehensive Tasmanian wine list, attentive staff, meals were sensational, with reasonable sized portions. I’ll be back.

Should be a hatted restaurant - best restaurant meal in years

Stopped for lunch after recommended by a friend from Burnie. Relatively quiet, got a table by the window with nice ocean and boardwalk views. Service was pleasant, quick and attentive. I had filet steak, she had the fish special (salmon in a coconut cream sauce), a reasonably priced Tassie Pinot and we both had dessert (salted caramel panna cotta and a cream brûlée). Food was astounding - perfectly cooked, very flavourful mains and delicious desserts. The best meal we’ve had anywhere in a long time. Better than 2 and 3 hatted restaurants we’ve been to. When next we’re back in Tassie will go to Burnie solely to eat here again.

As an ex trade chef I appreciate amazing food, and Bayviews is where you find it. The meals are presented beautifully. The service is attentive. Local produce is Used and I have been approximately6 times and I have never ever been disappointed. Do yourself a favour and try out this most beautiful restaurant with ocean views in Burnie. I’d say their beef carpaccio is one of the best I’ve had in the world. Thank you to Anne, Kurt and their team for always making me feel welcome and for providing a wonderful dining experience.

not suited if you don't eat meat

We went to the Bayviews Restaurant for a set menu on NYE. When we made the reservation we asked if they are able to accommodate for a pescetarian diet (i.e., no meat) and were assured that this is no problem. They did not serve us any meat. However, they also did not serve as much of anything else. Every course was basically the same as the meaty one we saw at the table next to ours but without the meat. They upped the non-meat parts of the courses a little bit, but none of the courses had any kind of substitute for the removed meat such as fish, tofu, additional carbs etc. After five courses we were still quite hungry and asked for some bread. We were served a beautiful loaf, but in a fine-dining restaurant we would have expected someone to ask us if everything was alright. We were also charged the same amount as everyone else when we clearly did not get the same value. If you don't eat meat, I would not recommend to go there.

Saturday Lunch in Wild Weather

We had a celebratory lunch for three on a Saturday in very wild winter weather. Restaurant staff welcomed us to a table with an excellent view of the wild surf out in the bay and set us up with drinks. The drinks were good (Tasmanian wines for us), and the food was terrific, with all diners choosing different options. Highly recommended, and we will be back again in the near future.

I had dinner with several colleagues and we were rewarded with some of Tasmanian's finest local produce. I had the cured trout as an entrée and the braised scallops for main course with a side of steamed greens. The meals were perfectly cooked and tasted great. There's a few little nice touches like the sorbet between courses. The service was very attentive and the wine list had some excellent local offerings. I shall be making a return visit next time I'm in Burnie.

Great Food, Service and Views - 5 Star Rating!!!

My wife and I had lunch here today (Saturday 29 May) for our first time. Very impressed by the service, food, and views. The owner Ann Wyss made us very welcome and signed us through the covid process. The restaurant was bathed in sunlight and the views across the Bass Straits were amazing. The order for drinks was taken quickly and efficiently and the pint of Boags Draught and a glass of Wineglass Bay Sauvignon Blanc arrived in no time. My wife ordered the Pea, basil, and ricotta cannelloni with Garden salad with shaved Grana Padano parmesan, walnuts, apple, 8yr old balsamic vinegar. I ordered the slow-cooked Scottsdale pork scotch. Both meals were excellent, everything was fresh and locally sourced and both meals were cooked to perfection. We shared a dark chocolate and salted caramel tart for dessert and again it was brilliant. We chatted with the chef, Patrick Sherriff, and complimented him and his team on a wonderful meal. 5 STAR rating, we will be returning soon!!!

Sophisticated menu with opulence in style, loved the variety of the tasting menu, tuna was superb, pork flavour explosion and desert divine. Moscato was one of the best I’ve tried. Service excellent and lovely atmosphere.

Met a friend for lunch today. We decided on a meal from the lunch menu (there were 3 menus to choose from). Ordered the Thai beef salad and it was superb! Enjoyed Tassie wine and that view!

If only the owner will listen to customer feedback on his food

The restaurant’s ambience was great. As is the wait staff. But it’s owner should welcome customer feedback, rather than try to talk down to them. My very slow cooked beef cheek was excellent, as was my panacotta. But my husband’s scotch fillet was wanting... having been let down on the recommended Szechuan pepper sauce. When he shared with owner that it could have been a lot more peppery, it was brushed off with, “we cater to locals”. When told we were locals, and that the better way forward was for wait staff to ask ‘how peppery would you like it?”, he brushed it off that the sauce was a reduction!!!! Now I know you can easily jazz up a Ready made reduction’s pepper strength After, being comfortable with eastern and western culinary ingredients and techniques. I am therefore shocked at its owner’s unwillingness to listen to constructive feedback that will only improve its customer satisfaction, and increase its client base. A poor shadow to Mud Bar in Launceston and Monsoon in Hobart: both are always very keen on both compliments and feedback that encourages upping their game.

Excellent service and meals

Family dinner here visiting from overseas and had a great night of attentive service and top quality food. We were also sitting at the window with breathtaking views of the sunset and beach. The food is well presented, fresh and excellent portions. Staff are very attentive and genuine. They were training a staff member and even they were excellent. The desserts were a wonderful finish to the night with the bread and butter pudding the highlight. Thanks for a great night.

Very Overrated

I ordered the Scotch fillet, medium to well done. It came back very rare, even more rare then my brothers steak which was medium rare. The chef must have had a bad day or he forgot what the difference was in cooking the steak. Anyway, I asked the manager to re-cook the steak. He came back with only half the steak. What happened to the rest of my steak!!!! Still had to pay full price....very disappointed. Luck the owner was not there on the night.

Delicious food and brilliant service

We had a delicious meal at Bayviews in March 2021. We tried the share entree platter, had steak and salmon for mains and then the lemon meringue and tiramisu for dessert. All the food we had was outstanding and what was more pleasing was the exceptional service we received from the friendly and helpful staff. Without a doubt the best dining experience we had throughout our entire trip in Tassie. Thankyou!

I had a delicious oven cooked Hapuka fish with a pumpkin purée and coriander sauce (salsa verde) it’s was delicious. The staff was friendly and efficient. They was always looking after us, explaining the origin of every dish. That way we deserve. The dessert 🧁 was perfect verity my favourite one was expresó creambulee.

Delightful evening

We had dinner at Bayviews last night. The service was very attentive and the timing was perfect. The setting is stylish and comfortable. The food was excellent and delicious, beautifully presented, with complex flavours and well worth the price. We will look forward to another visit in the future. Top notch.
