It was the first place we ate oysters in Tasmania. So once we arrived at Bruny Island, we drove straight to Get Shucked and ordered 1 dozen each for 4 types of oyster. While they were fresh, the size was not big, hence we had to order 4 dozens to satisfy our craving. If you travel up the east coast, try Lease 65 in St Helen. It's cheaper and fresher, with bigger meat.

This place is an absolute must when you visit Bruny Island. We were on a food and wine tour and this place was on our list. Each person was given a generous half dozen fresh oysters that were just over an hour old. How fresh is that!!! Also the owners have a drive through where cars and caravans lined up to buy their oysters. A bonus there is a bar where one can enjoy a chilled champagne to enjoy with the oysters. Highly recommend this food adventure.

We came here twice and it was good. The oysters are very fresh. It has very clean taste, smooth but not rich like Sydney Rock oysters. Nevertheless they are very good. People generally come in and out within 30 mins so the turnaround of the tables are very quick.

Was extremely disappointed by the service and description of open hours. Oyster were still available and was well within open / serving hours. We drove hours to try fresh Kilpatrick oysters but where told they were no longer serving (no explanation given as to why), we were told to come back tomorrow. When I explained we had travelled hours and that this wouldn’t be possible there was no understanding, even though they were still open and serving others. I was understanding that maybe the kitchen wanted to clean up etc however as I was walking out others where being served kilpatrick oysters and having cooked oyster numerous times, the kitchen could have easily prepared the oysters & cleaned up before closing time. If you stop food service well before 4.30pm (which is the listed time on the website) then this should be clearly written on your website so customers who have travelled hours are not disappointed or let down. I have never written a review however am extmeley disappointed and let down.

our first stop after getting off the ferry from Kettering - and popular with LOTS of people. a long queue, as it was lunchtime, but worth the wait! we each had a dozen oysters - nude and with 3 dressings, and could have eaten more if we weren't going to eat again soon and have dinner later. great service and quite a large area to eat your meal. large carpark onsite, which fills quickly as it is so popular with visitors - would happily eat here again. can get cooked oysters and chips etc, so loved by all members of the family

We snuck in here for afternoon tea on a Monday arvo. A dozen mixed oysters was a no-brainer selection for us and they were absolutely spot on... and we are big oyster fans. The set up was really relaxed, with nice outside area... staff were cool. Washed it down with a great Seven Sheds dark beer. Groovy berr can collection in the gents toilet!

The oysters from this establishment are fresh harvested every day from the leases across the road (literally). I sampled the mixed dozen - 4 natural, 4 Kilpatrick, 4 Pandora-crumbed and deep fried. Beautiful. Was tempted to go again

I travel with my own oyster knife in oyster country. Passing Get Shucked we slipped in for a look and picked up a couple of dozen unshucked oysters to last a couple of days. Well, without a doubt these were some of the largest, but also the tastiest, oysters I've eaten. Just plain and simple from the shell, fresh and creamy, no frills, delicious. They will do them for you to eat on the premises in various ways but, really, plain is exquisite.

The Oysters were fantastic. No need to chew they simply disolved in your mouth and as others have mentioned were creamy. Would have given Get Shucked 5 stars except for our actual experience at the store. They were nice enough to open earlier than their start time to allow our tour group to purchase some take away Oysters (natural only). Tour guide suggested we go early for breakfast as being a Sunday they may run out towards the end of the day. They would not allow us to sit down at their tables or use their toilets as they were not officially open. So we stood around the premises eating them and were then told to take the rubbish with us back on the bus. They must have bins for their normal customers to use so why tell us to take the shells with us. There was no need for them to do that so took away from the experience.

If you like oysters then Get Shucked is MUST visit during your time on Bruny Island. The oysters are fresh and cooked on site. The staff are friendly and keen for a chat. The experience isn't fine dining, but it is unpretentious, delicious and excellent value. We really enjoyed the oyster tasting plate (1 doz mixed) and ended up eating 2 plates each, as well as 1 doz natural oysters! So delicious! The selection of beverages is also great, with a focus on Tasmanian beers, ciders and juices.

My partner loves oysters natural, I don't. We called in to buy some oysters to go. If you like oysters natural, you will love it here. Freshly shucked oysters served many ways. Bright open space, friendly staff, good service.

Our bus took us there first thing. We waited whilst they were shucked and put in takeaway containers. We were eating fresh oysters on the beach by 10am in the morning. Absolutely Brillant! They were the best and freshest oysters I have every tried. It was fantastic. We had to get in early because they sell out most days- which was true, when we went past on the way home, the place was already sold out.

I am not one who craves oysters, but when in Rome... And I can see why people like these oysters. They were fresh indeed. I had mine raw with the 2 selection of vinegrettes and a creamy sauce. The vinegrettes were great, especially the Asian inspired one. The creamy one was not as good as the sour vinegrettes. We came early in the morning and the oysters were plentiful I also got a smoked salmon, chilli and lime pate and my partner who doesn't even really like seafood liked it. A tad too sweet for me, but good flavours. The oysters were probably my favourite food from our Bruny island trip. Can recommend.

Simply the best oysters I’ve ever tasted! I’ve had Bruny Island oysters before, just not on Bruny Island. They’re large, plump, creamy, salty and so fresh. Everything an oyster should be. You can have them natural, Kilpatrick or in a Pablo crumb. They do a mixed dozen of 12, 4 of each type. We had them natural and at $26 were fair value. I think the mixed dozen was $28. Pro tip; Go here for oysters with a glass of Jansz (Northern Tasmanian sparkling wine) for course 1, then proceed to the Beer and Cheese Co about 3 minutes drive down the road for course 2. But don’t forget to buy another dozen takeaway, for later. You will not be disappointed 🦪🥂

My wife and I plus another have just visited Get Shucked Oyster while on holidays in Tasmania. We arrived at Get Shucked Oyster at 2;30pm Sunday afternoon very much looking forward to a good selection of both natural and cooked oysters. The restaurant was almost full so we lined up egger to place our order. We were two places from the counter to be served when it was announced that there will be no more cooked oysters would be served, leaving me as the only one in our group that ate natural oysters which was the only selection being sold now. Although the dozen natural oysters I ordered were fantastic the rest of the group went without. This was extremally disappointing for my wife and friends considering Get Shucked Oysters closed at 4:30pm. The best I can say is "Great quality, Very poor organization by management.
