Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed overnight in Gunnedah on a return trip to Sydney from outback NSW & settled on Bitter Suite for breakfast before continuing our trip. Found a nice sunny spot in the front courtyard & proceeded to order breakfast. The service staff were very friendly & most obliging. The coffee & food for breakfast was exceptional - one of the best breakfasts we had ever eaten anywhere - fresh, hot & cooked to perfection. It was a memorable experience & can only highly recommend this establishment to all visiting Gunnedah.

Very pleased with our brekky experience here this morning. Great coffee, we had to have a second cup it was so good. Partner loved his homemade chorizo beans, and my wilted greens with poached eggs was excellent. Sounds simple, but complex flavours with the addition of pecans, sesame seeds and pine nuts. Can't wait to try this at home. Service and ambiance friendly and comfortable too. Heartily recommend.

While it was expensive, the food was very delicous. I came for breakfast and ordered the chicken burger with sweet potato chips which was tasty and full of flavour. The atmosphere was happy and friendly and the staff were very helpful and cheerful. Would go again😊

Have wanted to try this coffee shop for a long time. We were passing through Gunnedah so stopped there. After waiting about half an hour, the poached eggs were cold - one was soft, the other hard, so obviously cooked at different times. My daughter had a bacon and egg roll, the only thing hot was the bacon. No salt and pepper on the table and when I got my cappuccino - no spoon. When asked for a spoon - got a weird look from the waitress and then she handed over a dirty spoon, which I didn't use! Luckily I don't have sugar as the raw sugar sitting in the containers on the table looked like wet sand from people dipping their wet spoons in. First and last time I will go there.

Attempted to book a table for Father’s Day breakfast but was told can only book for 5+ people after 10am before this time it’s first in best dressed. So we arrived at the cafe on the day only to find it was full and tables had reservations well before 10am. Rating this as terrible due to poor service and conflicting information.

seriously the staff here need to learn how to make a coffee without boiling the s*#t out of it... I recently visited with my aunt who now lives in Gunnedah. just popped in for a quick cuppa while walking past. my flat white came out with the milk so boiling that it was curdled on the top. couldn't even pick up the cup from the handle which indicated how hot the coffee inside was. gave them the benefit of the doubt and sipped my coffee only to receive burns to the roof of the mouth and tongue. asked the waitress to please replace it with another one only to be told that I know nothing and that's how coffee should be made... got another coffee bought out and it was exactly the same. my aunt ordered a double espresso and milk on the side and her milk was exactly the same. she waited for half an hour to drink her coffee. I asked the waitress to bring out some cold milk so it was possible to drink my second cup the was made and she walked away and didn't say a thing to me, a short time later a different person walked out and put a whole new fresh cup of coffee on my table that was much better in temperature and texture. won't be getting coffee from there again, ever!!

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Bitter Sweet. Steak sandwich was filling and very tasty. The weather was awful but once you come in from the street, the cafe atmosphere takes over. Plants everywhere, interesting pieces catch your eye. Great vibe in the space. Definitely worth a visit.

I dropped in to grab a take-away before work. This seemed like a popular little place and there were lots of people calling in for their morning fix. I'm not sure whether they lost my order, but it took probably more than 15 minutes. I wouldn't go back unless I had time to spare. The coffee was ok. Not many places know how to make a good long black. I've had worse!

IMe and my family had lunch at Bitter Suite and we were all very impressed at the service and friendly staff there. I am in a wheelchair and one of the staff offered to push me in and out which added to the friendly vibe I had of this place. Their coffee in Particular was fantastic, one of the best coffies I have had in a while and the food was great, we all had a great time there. Will Visit again next time we are in Gunnedah

Passing thru Gunnedah and needed a bit of a break for lunch. Really peaceful plant filled courtyard. Staff were friendly and the service fast and meals fresh and tasty. Side of fries could have been a little hotter but the burger was really nice. Would definitely go back

This place may have great coffee and great food but we found it to be a little grungy to stay and try. The table we sat at was not clean, the back of the chair I pulled out to sit on had sauce dripped over it. I checked out the menu, seemed OK, mainly breakfast fare and burgers. No one came near us, no greeting, flat vibe, dogs wandering around the front part of the seating area, not for us.

A really nice place to sit and eat, random tables, plants, quirky stuff etc. the food was really nice, very large portions and the coffee was excellent. Very busy and everyone seems to know everyone else, probably typical of a country town. Plenty of street parking, worth a visit.
