Travelling through NSW, we had planned a visit to the Norman Lindsay Museum and expected to be able to eat at the cafe. This was something we had done in Armidale at the NERAM the previous day. Unfortunately it was a Sunday and we did...not have a booking - something which I realise now was a mistake. However the supervisor who turned us away could have been more understanding - it is not as if Faulconbridge is brimming with alternatives.More
We were long-time enthusiasts for this restaurant but had not visited for about three years. With gratitude we found they were open between Christmas and New Year so my family could journey up from Sydney and meet us there. We were all a bit down...on the place; it had gone "burger centric" and although the cliched build your own big breakfast was still there elsewhere there was hole where imagination should have been. And frankly what we did have was not that good. Shame. I see others are like me and lets hope they get their act together soon. They cannot go on forever using the Art Gallery as a reason to visit.More

High hopes for a get together with friends - finally after the Covid shutdown. Not quite what we expected though. Lovely setting , nice staff but salty meals. All three meals were over seasoned. I did take my meal back ( in my haste I...forgot to put on my mask - ) I got into trouble about that. I asked to have the offending item replaced ? Returned to my seat … then my plate was returned to me with just the item removed … the cost of that was taken off the account I was told. I was then told off again for walking a few metres without a mask. ( strangely I then saw a chef walk unmasked to an outside cool room and back 🤷♀️) By this time there were only a couple of tables left in the restaurant. We watched meals being served to tables next to us, but no one ever collected any of our dirty dishes. No one asked us if we would like desert, and no one asked us if we would like a coffee after our meal. In fact no one came near us again. Golden rule of catering -never return to the kitchen empty-handed.. if you’ve taken food out, then you bring dirty plates back with you to the service area. So we had to go elsewhere for our desert and coffees unfortunately. Very disappointing . When we paid the bill , the staff member had taken the whole cost of my meal off ( approx $12) - so it least that was fair.More
Lindsay's Cafe recently hosted my daughter's 18th birthday party, a private evening function which they opened specially for. The Cafe is a beautiful venue-gorgeous bush setting in a sweet little heritage building amidst the grounds of Norman Lindsay Gallery. If you are looking for a...quiet, casual setting for a smallish function(capacity is just over 30 guests I think), then consider this venue and support a local family business. Chef Dean created a delicious menu including some delightful vegetarian options which were real crowd pleasers. Dean was very responsive and easy to communicate with leading up to the event and nothing was too much trouble for him, including some tricky dietary requirements.Special mention should be made of the entree tapas boards which were absolutely superb! Ayesha and her young staff were very accommodating and attentive on the night and created a very relaxed,warm atmosphere for our guests.Thoughtful touches including blackboard signs and welcome drinks were very much appreciated. I booked a high tea for my daughter to celebrate her 8th Birthday at Lindsays with a high tea and it was magnificent. She was met at the door with pink lemonade and walked to her seat. The table was dressed beautifully and the little...girls even had little tea cups! All the food was made in house and the eggs ( for the delish egg sandwiches) are even from the owners own coop in the Blue Mountains! The scones were yum. My daughter and her friend felt so special and I could relax with my friend and enjoy a fantastic coffee - and breakfast - the house made baked beans were spectacular! Really can’t wait to do this again!More
Food was poor quality and the staff particularly one lady were rude and unhelpful. Find somewhere else to spend your money.
Had lunch with friends, unfortunately chef was AWOL so had 3 choices on menu. All of which were microwaved and days old. Dessert was no better, chocolate cake, scones or muffin. All were dry and days old! Staff were friendly but service was poor. Tables...were not cleaned. We won't be back!More
Cafe has changed hands and we thought we would visit for a devonshire tea to check it out. We were seated and order taken promptly then given a bottle of hot table water! After a 10 min wait tea & coffee arrived, both sub-standard, half...pot of tea so super strong and insufficient milk, ordered large chai latte received a small glass that was half froth. Waited another 20 minutes for our scones which never arrived so we decided to leave. We complained about the service and the drinks and were offered a scone to go which we declined, we were charged full price for our drinks and given a very half hearted apology. What a shame used to be one of our favourite spots. Wont be back!More
I travelled from the Central Coast on 12 Nov 2020 to visit Norman Lidsay Gallery, arrived early enough for a coffee. WOW. The flat white was to die for - so much so that I ordered a second - very unusual for me, despite being...a flat white fanatic. Totall recommend the coffee at Lindsay's Cafe. And it only cost $4.50 for a large!!More
