Booked a table the night before. Great place to eat, friendly service, great food. The owner greeted us and the food was excellent, plated, hot and worth every penny. Would definitely go back and recomend to anyone.

We had a lovely meal here - I had roast pork and my husband had a delicious lasagne. It was all very well cooked with plenty of vegetables including excellent roast potatoes and a good bottle of wine. Fruit tart and custard to follow -...all very enjoyable. Service was good - the lady serving was very friendly. A good experience!More
Poor, unimaginative over-priced transport cafe food. The offerings had well cooked vegetables designed to fill the plate as the main was far from generous. My vegetable lasagna was sloppy and lacking in vegetables! My partner’s pork lion was small - the crackling being the best...thing! Cheese and biscuits was basic and lacked anything you might be tempted by - cheap cheddar, Brie (possibly from Somerset) and Stilton all pre-cut into the smallest triangles. Must do better.More
Have been coming here every September for a long while now in different party sizes. Every time has been excellent. Tonight there was only 2 of us and with the Covid restrictions in place as well. As always a cracking meal and service. Will be...back again September 2021, hopefully without Covid and also with more of us! 🙂 ❤️More
Fantastic food, full of flavour at reasonable prices.Beautifully presented.Waitress talked to everyone and thus a great atmosphere.Very impressed and will definately return
Really great personal service and good food with just enough choice to keep you focused! All the dishes we tried were excellent, non-fussy and well presented.
We only visited Lapeswood because we saw it on TripAdvisor, and it had such good reviews so we thought we would pop in for an evening meal and see for ourselves the service was excellent very friendly and competent lady who seem to be working...on at her own with one person in the kitchen produced fantastic meals it’s true what they say about the venison casserole it is fantastic, the lady serving seem to have a fantastic rapport with all the Customers and also showed a lot of interest and attention to detail would definitely recommend I would say don’t read a book by its cover as it is very dated interior but the service and food and cleanliness is excellent , I even ordered a pudding which is something we don’t usually do but again wanted to check out the reviews that said that the pie was fantastic and it melted in the mouthMore
Have been many times with friends.Paul is a great chef and Jan a first rate host. This can't be bettered.
This is an old fashioned restaurant that you could almost walk past on the high street, but you'd regret it. Very relaxed atmosphere with each table having Trivial Pursuit cards for added entertainment. Hubby had "the best stake and ale pie" of the weekend; I...had perfectly good hake with new potatoes and green beans. The portion size was just right. We shared a cherry pie afterwards - absolute heaven! Best pud in a long time so we will be back for more. The waitress/owner (?) was lovely and chatty so I'd definitely recommend.More
Lovely restaurant, fantastic food and plenty of it. Everything is homemade and delicious. Service is friendly and efficient. Reasonably priced. Even my mother-in-law was impressed! Can't fault it.
