We recently visited on pie & a pint night after previously visiting for Sunday lunch. The food was delicious, the pie was filling but relatively & pleasantly surprisingly light. We tried the week of the wine which was really good, great choice as well. The pub has a great atmosphere & friendly staff. Will be returning!

I have known this pub for over 50 years and have seen its ups and downs. Recently I have started using it again and it is as good now as it's ever been. I have been there with friends and last Thursday I ate there with my two sons. Each time the food has been very good and reasonably priced.... More

Very nice pub and very friendly staff. Went on Friday 28th October with my son and husband and we all enjoyed the whole experience. The food was very good.

My wife and I frequent this pub at least every other week for drinks, not least because they have very good beer and wine but they also sell the best pork scratchings. We have also dined here on a number of occasions (the most recent being tonight) and every time the food has been excellent. It's not haute cuisine but... More

Charming old pub in the middle of nowhere, really! Good food and decent beer and wine. Highly recommended

Was recommended this place. Thought we would give it a try. The food was good but had to wait a bit in between courses. The roast potatoes wasn't as well cooked as would like. Staff were friendly but the landlord was a bit of a character and customer service was not his forte. I don't think I would go there... More

Dog friendly and a nice spot for a beer, but the food was poor - my French onion soup was a bowl of gravy with a tiny, ice cold lump of bread with hard cheese welded to the top.

Well worth going out of your way for. Delightful old pub. In the front bar by the window there's a list of the publicans dating back to the days when it was the Red Lion in the 17th Century. Good beer - four decent ales on offer and great pub food. Had some lovely crisp prawns in batter to start... More

Found this as a result of internet search for dog friendly pubs, and it certainly a great find. Very friendly and typical pub landlord, a pub which still retains it full character, great beer garden where the quietness is deafening, and food which has good presentation and quality. It is one of those places where if you catch a sunny... More

A beautiful pub in idyllic Kentish surroundings. The bar, restaurant and beer garden ooze with charm and you really feel that the pub is stooped in history. We went for lunch and a few drinks and we were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable price of the meal. The food and service were both excellent.
