I can safely say that this was the perfect meal. I know the restaurant and it's reputation for fine cuisine and excellent choice of fish dishes, but we could not praise the landlord enough for the service, the wonderful dishes and the atmosphere today, so I am writing this review. The Sussex Smokies and my Chicken liver in brandy and... More

Another lunch out with Father-in -Law. We had booked a table and were glad we had as the dining area was busy. The owner was not very welcoming but forget that, it's the food that makes this pub so good. It was originally a hunting lodge so draughty when customers leave the huge wooden doors ajar which happened a lot.... More

They are absolutely genius at cooking fish, and the wine list is to die for. Even the pricing is reasonable, for the quality. I've lost count of the number of times I've eaten here, and I never remember to leave a review. The oysters are great. My favourite dish is probably the sea bass, but the menu varies a lot.... More

It was my birthday so my dad and his gf treated Julie and I to Sunday Lunch at the Dering Arms. The building, an 1840's Coaching House is an architectural delight and the food an absolute sensation. Honestly I had the most delicious meal in all of my life, and I've eaten at some very good restaurants over the years.... More

On our way home to the continent via the Channel Tunnel we stopped here for lunch. I found this pub in a Lonely Planet Pub Book . What a delightful surprise...what a gem! Arriving we initially thought the place was closed but luckily Hubby tried a second door and we could enter into what I would call "another century" !... More

We visited here as part of our Valentines Day activities and it was a delight. There was a warm welcome from the staff and everything after was perfect. The cosy, warm feel to the place relaxed you straight away as you looked thorugh the menu options. We went for the prawns to start and sea bass & pheasant for our... More

I visited the Dering Arms today, excited about its excellent reputation and historic ambience... My party spent in the region of more than 400 pounds over two short hours...not bad takings from just one group! From the start the attitude of the landlord and one waitress was high handed and, yes, well, downright rude! A walking party of 20 professionals... More

Let me help you with your report ! Firstly, your party was booked in for the following Sunday. We only found this when one of your group phoned to increase to 12. Yes 12, not 20 !! You were also 40 minutes late, just on kitchen closing ! Secondly, I have added up all the order dockets. This came to... More

The best meal we have had in a long time and the best in the area by a mile. We had a fantastic meal from starters to dessert. The garlic prawns starter were absolutely delicious and the prawns were so much bigger than the usual small one's you get elsewhere. The Brill and fried Oyster and Veal specials were to... More
