We managed to squeeze into one of the last Saturdays that the Mad Hatter opened - for those who don't know, he only ever opened on a Saturday. Pots of tea, great home-made cakes and interior decor that was beyond belief! Can't wait to read the autobiography.

Quaky, a little eccentric! But a lovely visit. Massive scone ( home made) very nice. Lovely china and service with a smile and a story. Plenty to look at from all the lovely photos on the wall.

Looking for somewhere to have a cup of tea, we popped in here without previously knowing anything about it. Quite an experience! The decor is truly singular, with tinsel, Christmas decorations, Royal Family paraphernalia, and odd bits-and-pieces covering just about every surface. It is not a large place, and this does add to a feeling of quite a cramped space.... More

If you happened upon the Mad Hatter by chance, you would wonder what in Hell was happening....a Fawlty Towers experience! Michael, the owner, your Host, is quite a character and bakes all the most scrumalicious cakes himself and they are to die for......but you might die of thirst/hunger waiting! It's mad decor & random service are an acquired taste, but... More

This tea shop is different you love it or hate it! £12 for tea and cake, which took over half an hour to come. The people sitting around us were regulars and loved it! I just felt a little squashed in. The downstairs could do with dusting. My father enjoyed his pot of tea and cake.

I went into the Mad Hatter with my mum spur of the moment for lunch. What an experience! The mad hatter is a lovely man encouraging us to look around the whole building and really friendly. The decor is whacky, so many things to look at and take in from tinsel to princess Diana to old Margate photos. I had... More

If you like vintage or different places to be, you need to visit this place. Really lovely snacks! And off course you need to try the homemade cakes
