We were the only people there when we stopped for lunch - but there is no good reason for it to be quiet! The food was brilliant and very good value for money. We asked for mayonnaise expecting a tub of Hellmans - but the chef knocked up some real, fresh, delicious mayonnaise. If you're anywhere near Bonchurch I would... More

We stopped in for lunch today and had a very warm welcome. The service was relaxed but attentive and we had some tasty dishes - spiced parsnip soup with crusty bread, mushroom risotto, chocolate fudge cake and lemon slice.

Popped in when we saw it was open and had the recommended Wight Rarebit, with a parsnip soup to start. Both were delicious and reasonably priced. Some issues with card payment but think these were teething wi-fi issues. Will be back.

Just the two of us for dinner on Wednesday, 28 December and the restaurant remained empty all evening, which is just as well given the shouting and tomfoolery going on in the kitchen, the poor waitress, only been there 3 days struggled through in a friendly way given the depleted overpriced wine list and poorly cooked food. Not sure who's... More

We have just got back from a visit to the Pond Cafe this evening and have only good things to say. Firstly, we arrived too early for food. The menu clearly states food is served from 6pm but we had failed to notice this and arrived at 5.10pm. Despite this, the waitress Alice was welcoming and genuinely attentive. Just a... More

... empty hand soap, spare bottles of soap by loo bowl, no decaf coffee, empty salt and peppers... Our list could go on and despite the owner being a cheerful, enthusiastic and welcoming chap this establishment is riding on the back of the excellence of the previous Pond Cafe run by Robert Thomson. The food is of a similar price... More
