This restaurant has always been a cut above the average village hotel restaurant, but now that it has been upgraded to full Marco Pierre White "Steakhouse" status, the menu, service and quality has taken another big leap upwards. Be prepared for the excellent quality MPW food and high level of service, in what is undeniably a very elegant setting. The... More

Service was good. The food was of a good standard but pricey when you can get food of a similar standard in pubs nearby. Just because it has a celebrity chef name over the door doesn't mean prices need to be hiked.

We popped in for a Sunday late tea recently, Fantastic. Was unusually empty.... But we had the best Chicken Kiev and Chips I have ever eaten. Sadly they don't do a roast on a Sunday anymore....apparently :(

Afternoon tea here was ok as was expecting a lot more from this establishment. Service was good and afternoon tea was ok but as stated earlier the variety was a little unadventurous for this type of establishment - unsure I would come here again for afternoon tea but lunch menu looked good and there is also a good size event... Came a long way, from Lincolnshire to eat here and soooo disappointed. Four of us at the table, two ordered chicken Kiev and there was virtually no garlic inside, couldn't eat it. Salmon came undercooked, and when we asked for a cooked salmon, that meal came 30 minutes later, when everyone else had finished. Felt we were ignored once we... More

It's an interesting place this. We had the set menu and whilst the food was good the steak really good I felt a little cheated that we couldn't eat the al a carte like other dinners. The service is a bit faulty towers apart from the Romania guy who served us he knew what he was doing and what good... More

First, the good points, it has a lovely atmosphere, great decor and nice tables, staff were friendly and attentive. Food was good, however the macaroni lobster which i had as a starter made me feel a little cheated, the bisque tasted lovely but there was so much macaroni it took me 10 mins to find the quite frankly miniscule 3... For a steak house the steak options are lacking. The meat was fine however the other elements were just not good. Overall it was ok but not worth the price. You would have got about the same quality at a Miller and Carter for a lot less. Disappointing...

Came for a pre valentines dinner. Lovely volute, smoked salmon, lamb and rib eye. All excellently cooked inc the accompanying chips and potatoes for each. Lovely chilean wine and nice to see meantime beer. However no dairy free desserts and more ales would be nice. Polite service. Reasonably priced too.

I've visited this restaurant last Friday quite curious about the famous name. Although it wasn't what I expected I must say that I was pleasantly surprised, The simple food but of high quality and not overpriced as one would expect in this case. My rib eye was perfectly cooked and the tuna of my friend was tenter and juicy. Good... More
