Have been using this place for a number of years, with family & friends, up to now consistently good for it's food and service: what has happened? went there a couple of weeks ago, serving staff patronising and shallow, food as bland as you can...More

I contacted the White Horse before visiting as one of our party wanted a specific dish from the menu. They guaranteed they would reserve a portion and were very helpful. We had a lovely meal, every change to the menu we requested was served correctly...More

At this moment it’s all about the food. Believe me when I say the food is great and is cooked and presented by people who care. That is the positives. Unfortunately there are negatives. We called in for lunch mid week on a cold and...More

This is now a very large restaurant more than a country pub. The interior me of what Berni Inns used to look like. We called in during the afternoon and were told that they would be very busy in the evening - so we would...More

Local business contacts picked and booked this, driving up it is just how country pubs are portrayed, classic building just how you’d imagine, a small old door and walking in, a roaring fire. Staff were very friendly, there was a good selection of beer, the...More

We called in on the off chance whilst passing. The inclement weather meant that unfortunately for the pub it wasn't that busy, which surprised us as the food was great quality and clearly homemade - a good honest plate of food. I opted for the...More

We rang to get a table for the same day Sunday lunch. Large menu with roast dinners. Beef and Turkey arrived with lots of different veg . Roast potatoes were crispy and just right. Good value for money. Quick service

I went there for a coffee, enjoyed the garden while sunny and went inside after. There is a big open fire place and lots of tables inside for lunch and dinner in different rooms. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. On the opposite of a previous review,...More

Description
Parts of the ancient building of the White Horse date back to the 16th century, and the two large Inglenook open fires bear testament to their heritage with their smoking chambers and their priest hole. These fires which are always alight during the winter months throw their heat into the various bar areas. The locals bar, with its dart board, and cosy village atmosphere retains the typical English pub image. Roaring log fire, the slap of cards on the table during a crib match and the thump of darts in the board, echo quietly in this bar. No background music can be heard, just the agitated discussions of the village elders who frequent this oasis of good beer & conversation. The lounge bar, with its equally large Inglenook can accommodate up to 40 people sitting and many more standing. Used by many people as a dining area, it still retains its “Olde World Charm”. A comfortable Chesterfield and deep farmhouse chairs merely add to the pleasant ambience of this lovely area. The restaurant has been built in a new area that extends towards the lovely pub garden. Seating 90 customers it makes a perfect place to enjoy the excellent food that is always available.
