It was interesting to read the other reviews about this place. There's an almost universal high regard for the food (if not the prices) and I do think that this is justified. Generally, the dishes we ordered were all pretty good, but this should be...More

It was a delight to return to The Phoenix Inn again last night for the Carnivores Dinner - a culinary delight! The evening started with assorted canapés and a delicious white wine. Then to the table for Beef Carpaccio, followed by a trio of beef...More

I'm going to start saying the garden rules are very specific and deeply appreciated - we have kids and they are told to behave and respect others property whilst having fun . We also have dogs who have similar rules although often the kids need...More

I went to the Sunday Roast with my family that I haven't seen in 20 years. There were 10 of us and we all had the Roast; the food was absolutely delicious with big portions and family style side dishes. The Desserts were exceptional. Customer...More

Fabulous food and Sunday lunch. Could not fault until our smallest child came in sobbing because a man had told her not to run over some part of the pub garden. She was so upset, as was her older brother, that it really cast a...More

I've noticed a few negative reviews from what looks like negative people on here and can't think why those comments are being made. I only go out on special occasions and the Phoenix is always my first choice and has been for years. It's just...More

The Phoenix is a historic and magnificent building in a prime location, with a large car park and a beautiful, peaceful garden. The food is simple, fresh, as much as possible local. Andrew Ryder, chef proprietor is passionate about provenance and seasonality. The menu changes frequently, to allow for seasonal favourites. The service is friendly and informal, staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. There is always a good selection of real ales and the extensive wine list suits all tastes and pockets.
