Arrived at the Premier Inn next door after a long drive so this pub was perfect for falling into for a few drinks & a meal. The menu was quite extensive & we all thought the food was excellent. It's an old building with beams & log fires & a nice atmosphere. Staff were all very friendly & helpful (but... More

This place has a lot going for it, not least the staff who were very helpful, however some of the food was just not good at all. The so called 'curried cauliflower' soup contained more chickpeas? than cauliflower and the curry was almost non existent with a not very exciting flavour.. Mains were OK though.

Had dinner here with a friend and our waitress, Maria, was exceptionally helpful - she is a real credit to the pub. Nothing was too much trouble for her despite the fact that the pub was very busy. A higher standard of both food and service than I had expected.

I cannot fault the service in this restaurant, the staff were excellent, happy to help and very patient. The for was good, except for my main course the wagyu burgher. So why only two stars. Well my burgher was so over cooked the delicious beef was very chewing but still had a good taste. What really got me was that... More

My friend and I had lunch with her new puppy Lochi. All the staff were friendly, professional and made us feel very welcome. We sat in the dog friendly area next to the open fire and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The menu was varied, all dishes at a reasonable price. The food was really tasty and filling. Easy to find... Good setting, smart inside, staff excellent BUT what a letdown, our pre booked table was occupied so we had to wait at the bar for about 30 minutes, the Sunday roast was almost inedible as the beef was so tough the knife would not cut it, the Yorkshire puddings and the roast potatoes were the same colour BLACK and I've... Hi neilian9 Firstly thank you for your kind words about the service. I would be interested to know which Sunday you occurred this wait time for your table as the previous Sunday, the 15th we did not experience any waits for tables. However I would like to offer my apologies with the standard you received with your roast dinners as... More

Came here with a couple of colleagues on a Monday lunch time; it's beautifully rustic inside, the staff are really friendly and the food is great. It cost just under £50 for 3 burgers with chips, 2 extra portions of chips and 4 drinks. I've had the wagyu burger previously and would say it's not worth the extra money -... More

Hi Yom Yom Yom Its great to read that you and your colleagues enjoyed your burgers during your lunchtime visit. I am personally a big fan of the wagyu burger, mainly due to the onion chutney, but the British beef burger is also a good choice as you do get the added extras included. Thank you for your feedback and... More

We had a family gathering for Sunday lunch here. Everything was tip top from start to finish. Lovely table next to the open fire, our waitress was very attentive and our food arrived quickly and piping hot. Great atmosphere, very cosy. Will definitely return with family and friends again.

Hi _awood012 Its very pleasing to read that you enjoyed your Sunday lunch with us. At this time of year, the fires are both a great talking point and a relief to get out of the cold!! Sundays do offer a great atmosphere as we are always busy, but still allows guests to feel relaxed and comfortable. I'm really glad... More

Visited with family for Sunday lunch. The service was slow from the start to finish, had a very confusing conversation about sparkling water and they had run out of merlot... Starters were fine, although, the duo of pate is ridiculously over priced! Mains were a disaster; Children's chicken meal was dry and the chips were luke warm. Two adult roast... More
