My Wife and have been watching the deterioration of your place with great sadness due to the lack of maintenance, proper management, appalling service, plastic unappetising food, unclean pipes, untreated yeast build up beer glasses and constant turnover of personnel. Its find Investing money in creating a nice alfresco area but this is only part of the equation, if you... More

Met and old friend for Sunday lunch . As it was a day out by the sea I thought I would have fish & chips and made the mistake of saying to my friend "nothing can go wrong with that" We were sitting outside having a drink and it did not seem busy , but the food took ages and... More

What has happened to this pub, it was ok a few months ago. Service still OK but food very poor served on cold plates and virtually no gluten free options which is not how it used to be.

Went back to the smugglers today with my family for Sunday lunch. I have eaten here before 6 weeks ago and came back because on my last visit I had a lovely gluten free roast and desert. Today we were told that none of the roasts were gluten free and I struggled to find something I could eat, some of... More

We arrived around 6.30pm to be told all roast dishes were finished, we looked at the menu saw alternatives and stayed. We ordered a sharing platter to start which for nearly £16 was of very poor size, it was apparent at this time food was short in third restaurant pub chain. Our mains came, the pie was not well seasoned... More

My partner and I popped in the smugglers this afternoon for a bite to eat. The menu was very limited for a Sunday but nevertheless we ordered 1 hunters chicken and 1 Sunday roast mixed platter. The service was good, waitress was attentive and main rush seemed to be over as it had gone 4pm. The food arrived. The hunters... More

Our food was good and the atmosphere was pretty standard for a Vintage Inn. I had the vegetarian burger, which was delicious, and my husband had the steak. The thing which annoyed me was the set menu. In most items you're paying extra for less choice! For example, two course set menu is £14.50. My burger was on the set... More

Easter Sunday Lunch at Smugglers Rest Peacehaven was excellent. Lovely friendly atmosphere, meal arrived piping hot and very well presented (compliments to the chef). All the staff were friendly especially our waitress Emma who was friendly and happy with a very good sense of humour and made our lunch even nicer.

Waited 45 minutes for starters Waited 30 further minutes for half the mains, two of which had to be sent back because they were cold, the other half didn't come Awful service Manager with a serious attitude problem Left feeling furious and hungry. Thanks for ruining my dads Birthday and for having ZERO sympathy or remorse
