Went to this pub to celebrate my mother-in laws 70th. Can't fault the novelty of this railway themed pub and I am sure it has some interesting history, however I can fault the dining experience which was a bit ordinary. Another classic trick where a pub serves industrial sized portions hoping that quantity will trump quality when they sucker punch... More

Thnak you for your review. If you're expecting Michelin stars and fine dining, please don't come to a real village pub, although we acknowledge that there are some "village pubs" out there which have forgotten their heritage. We'll carry on as we are, and let potential customers make their own judgements from the vast majority of Trip Advisor reviews. More

My son and his partner took us to the Laughing Fish for Sunday lunch a fortnight ago. He had to choose a time as there were two sittings and he chose 1.30. When we got there, the pub was heaving but there was a table waiting for us and the atmosphere was lovely and happy and fairly quiet! I was... More

I am fond of this pub, the only criticism I have to make, is the unsightly sign that has been recently erected outside the front, which does not look good at all. Please take it down. Great beer , good food , best all round pub in the area.

Lovely pub with good selection of local products which are cooked well and are very yummy. Burgers and sausages are from the local farm shop. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Good selection of local beers ales and largers!

It's a 15-mile drive from my house to The Laughing Fish and I've never felt it wasn't worth it. This is a traditional country pub in many ways, with a darts team, a bar billiards table, a roaring fire in cold weather, an annual beer race, a colourful selection of locals and regulars and an impressive variety of ales -... We stayed on caravan site which was quiet but great for being near enough to walk to pub for a meal. The meals we had were very nice, home cooked food , quick service & staff & locals all very friendly & made you most welcome. A good selection of beers & local cider. We would certainly recommend this pub... More

First time visit to this pub, you could tell the food was home cooked. Rather strangely they had no chicken on the menu other than a curry. One of the party only ate chicken so that was a struggle. The selection was good, my husband enjoyed the gammon and said he would go back again just for that. I had... More

Thank you for your review. Our menu is constantly changing so we can't guarantee that any particular dish will be available on a given day. However, we usually do have fresh chicken in stock so could produce something bespoke on request (although I don't know whether this was the case on the day of your visit, so apologies if you... Was here for a family member's bday meal on a Saturday night. Pub was not too noisy & staff were very friendly. Had the salt & pepper squid starter which was nice and the gammon, egg & chips which was good. Everyone enjoyed their meals & quite a few of the ales on offer!
