Reviewed yesterday

Since we were not very hungry, we shared a starter and a double starter, recommended by the waiters. Staff was friendly, helpful, flexible, we had a great (small) dinner with a good rose wine.

Always an incredibly flavourful meal! Never disappointed when we come here, I'm vegan and the chef always goes above and begin to create a lovely meal for me, these pictures are from my birthday yesterday, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Can't recommend enough!

This is my go-to pub in Battle for lunch. The food is always good and the staff are always lovely. This isn't standard pub grub and there are always interesting items on the menu. Today there is a tempura mackerel with a South East Asian...More

As a roast addict of the Chequers for over two years, I was mortified to make a different choice during the recent heatwave. As good as it is, I couldn't face it. I was in new territory, behind enemy lines: what could I have? The...More

I'm sorry that your waitress came across as insulting. I think she was just confused as she had checked on you throughout the meal and told that everything was good, then when she cleared your plates and they were empty she thought you were joking...More

I think I will respond to your review although I hate to respond to trip advisor reviews. At present we are looking at whether we need to press charges for the assault on our waitress from one of your party. Perhaps you could contact me...More

Just arrived from Australia and had the worst service we have ever experienced anywhere on the world. We have eaten all around the world and had never been treated so rudely. We spent nearly 300 pounds and were treated as if we were a trouble...More

Description
At Chequers we aim to provide a new way to dine, a relaxed vintage atmosphere, exciting rustic British food and a classic British bar. With our chefs locally sourcing ingredients from only farms that we have firsthand knowledge of, foraging for those special ingredients that are forgotten on menus today and preparing every dish to let the flavours of each ingredient excite the taste buds exactly how they should. This all mixed with our excellent wine list of classic and some very unusual great wines, and a classic British bar, we hope that once enjoyed you will just want to keep coming back.
