It's hard to believe a pub can get it so horribly wrong. Dismal atmosphere, non existent decor, appalling furniture and awful food from a sad, minimal menu. We only went because its location was convenient. Unsurprisingly, we were the only people there. Utterly depressing that visitors arriving by train might judge Battle by the Senlac.

Good management and bar service. Clientelle varies extraordinarily and i have had a range of experiences chatting to locals and some from further afield here. Some of the gents really arn't gents but fine if i'm with company, oh and i prefer to wear dress a little conservatively here to keep my privacy and save trouble. The menu still caters... More

Popped in here with my wife after a three hour train journey, the closest establishment to the train station. We fancied a drink and a bite to eat after the long journey. On approach you're not sure if it's actually open, but we took the plunge and opened a door, and I'm glad we did. This is a typical English... More

Attended the Senlac grill in Battle yesterday for a sunday lunch. We hadn't pre-booked a table but were welcomed warmly with a smile. We ordered 2 roast dinners 1 pork 1 beef. The service was excellent, clean tables nice cutlery and quick service. Our dinners arrived promptly and were piping hot. They tasted as delicious as they looked. real homemade... More

Just happened to pop in to the Senlac pub last night with my wife. After purusing the menu, which i might add offers something different in the way of a full grill menu. We decied to eat. we were greeting by a lovely waitress with a great smile and served drinks.we ordered the Cajun chicken burger, which to be fair... More

Had only read about this pub on Trip Advisor. Called and checked on the Friday that I could get something other than a roast dinner for the Sunday (I'm not a fan even on a Sunday). Assured I could. Arrived to discover Sundays are roast dinners only! However staff were lovely and manager put on the fryers and 2 out... More

Happened to pop in whilst visiting for the 1066 celebration's yesterday with a large, slightly loud but very well behaved, group of young men. We were made to feel really welcome and were hosted impeccably. The warm and welcoming staff made us feel absolutely at home and brightened up the day. The food was plentiful and served up hot. It... We have been driving past this place for years and it always looked a bit of a dump but noticed that it had been smartened up, sooooooo we stopped and popped in for a drink. well we were pleasantly surprised to "Magnificent Millie" whom we knew from the Chequers. She remembered us from last year & was so great to... More

Had the pleasure of dropping in here a couple of times over a weekend visit to the Battle area. Its a large pub with a few separate areas with Sky sports! The pub is nicely decorated and has a nice vibe to it. Bar staff were friendly and efficient. Sundays is roast only in the restaurant which I don't think... More
