House made cocktail sauce is to die for!! The Pretzel crusted cod was also amazing! Relaxing atmosphere with attentive friendly servers. Definitely worth the trip!

To start, one waitress handled the whole table. She didn't take orders in couples which we were but one of us..drinks were given to some of the wrong people and two drinks were totally wrong. She didn't seem to know what she was doing, totally confused!...More
Not a huge selection but the food they do have is well done. The old world building makes for a great place to enjoy their food and drink.
Jason, Thanks for your visit and review. We hope to serve you again.
Nice little restaurant in a historic building. I’d recommend eating a premeal before coming here though. I ordered the brat sandwich and the bun was twice the size of the brat. Everyone else’s meal seemed on the smaller side except the kids, which seemed the...More
Dear James282988, Thanks for your visit and review. We appreciate your feedback. Although most guests seem to find our portions to be sufficient - and, in fact, many leave with "to go" boxes, your input is important and we will re-examine our serving sizes. We...More
A wonderful restaurant tucked away near the historic village of Zoar, Ohio. Visit the village during any of its events or celebrations and then head to Canal Tavern for a meal afterwards. Always delicious. Housed in an extremely old, historic building lovingly restored. Seating available...More

My husband, daughter and I had a wonderful dinner on a Friday night! The restaurant is historic and comfortable, located along the canal. One of the specials was Pretzel-crusted Walleye which my husband and I chose, and my daughter had the Salmon. We were all...More
Dear Sadams9876, Thank you for your visit and for taking the time to write this review. We are very happy that you had a nice evening and enjoyed your meals and service. We hope you return.
The location is quiet, pleasant and historic, and it's extremely popular. Looking at the menu there seemed to be some unique items, like beignets (just back from New Orleans, I have acquired a taste not easily satisfied in Ohio) and German dishes that seemed to...More
My most memorable dinner experience possibly ever, was taking my elderly father, wife and daughter in-law to the Canal Tavern to celebrate Oktoberfest! Being of German heritage, I wanted to celebrate with my family and wasn't disappointed! My wife loved the sauerkraut balls and has...More
