Waterfront restaurant with a very extensive menu. Hosts were very welcoming, quick service, good quality and well portioned dishes. Seafood platter for two was just right, desserts were a tad pricey but very nice. Overall a very good quality venue well worth a visit.

Great spot for a casual seafood dinner in Streaky Bay. We sat outside on a warm summer's night and enjoyed Oysters, fish cakes and their famous seafood platter. Really friendly staff. Such a pleasant surprise to enjoy such great food. Oysters, scallops, prawns and King George Whiting were stunning. Wine reasonably priced. If you are in Streaky Bay, don't miss Drift. Very good indeed!

Was super excited to try the plant-based burger, as a vegetarian there aren’t many options for us usually. Heard amazing things about it, however I needed it takeaway to get back to work, only to be told they don’t do takeaway :( Not sure how hard it is to chuck a burger and chips into a takeaway container but I was pretty disappointed that they couldn’t make that happen. Iced coffee was made in a takeaway cup so I don’t really understand the difficulty. Oh well maybe one day I’ll get to try it.

Booked dinner at Drift on Rodeo weekend, it turned out to be not too busy on the Saturday evening.
Great ambience in restaurant & an excellent bar as well.
Had a few wines, both red & white to start with & we ordered seafood platter for 2.
Food was great, all local seafood.
While eating the owner said the silent disco will be starting so pick up headphones.
Well what a blast that was, 3 different channels, very different as dinner music.
Host/owner was great to talk with.

Saw this when we arrived and decided to drop in for coffee the following morning. Very friendly service and an excellent outdoor table with views of the beach and jetty. Coffee was excellent. It was such a lovely warm sunny day with the water shimmering that we asked for a lunch menu. Ordered the mixed oysters - natural, Kilpatrick, Thai and G & T. Oysters were fresh and plump. Also shared the calamari, with chips and salad. A couple of glasses of chilled white ensured the perfect lunch.
Was impressed to read on the menu how committed the owners were to supporting the local community.

We ordered 2 main meals and 3 kids meals at 6pm. We were advised it would be about a 30/40 minute wait because they were busy. This was fair enough and we understood this. By the time 7pm came around we thought maybe we missed the message that it was almost ready so we went for a drive to see. When I got there I was told that it was still not ready. In the end we waited over 80 minutes for our meal. It was beautifully presented although all the chips were cold.

The opening of Drift in this wonderful location with a magnificent view over the bay is great news for Streaky Bay locals and visitors. The menu offers a good choice, including vegetarian, and features various dishes using local seafood. The service was efficient and friendly and the meals well prepared. The wine list offers a sufficient choice and the food and wine are reasonably priced for the location and quality.

Eclectic menu with a wide bariety of breakfast choices. My wife and I visited this past February choosing to sit inside, out of the sun. Coffee was excellent, and the atmosphere had a very beachy feel. We were both drawn to the breakfast burrito, which was filled with scrambled egg, Mexican beans, hash browns, avocado, spinach, red onion, tomato, and cheese in a toasted wrap... Yum. The service was excellent.
The only downside is the fact that they are closed part of the week. I'm sure they have their reasons, but considering the fact that their food is as good as it is one would think that they would find a way to be open as much as possible during the summer months.
Anyway, you can't go wrong here. We even had a glass of wine each with our late breakfast. They also offer outside seating with umbrellas for protection from the sun.

Hi Frank! Thank you for your review and we are so glad you enjoyed your experience with us at Drift.
We would love to open 7 days a week, but unfortunately with staff shortages we cannot do so, our staff would be working 7 day weeks and split shifts (which they already do with dinners)! We open 7 days for a few weeks over the really busy Christmas period, but that is all we can manage for the moment.

Was looking forward to trying out this new eatery. Unfortunately we were disappointed in both the service and food. No bananas for the smoothies
(which all three on the menu contained), it took an hour for our food to arrive, and my partner's spicy chicken sliders were not spicy and the piece of chicken didn't even cover the tiny bun . It was also extremely hot inside (air conditioning did not appear to work). All in all disappointing $60 lunch.

Generally I find that whatever I want at a restaurant has sold out, not in that week, or isn't on the menu any more. Unfortunately this happened again.
Oysters are signature for the area. We went in for lunch and asked for oysters - no stock. Maybe that afternoon. We asked for dumplings/gyoza. They came back and said they'd run out. The replaced it with Tempura Prawns which I'm afraid were pretty lousy - not crunchy at all. I went for Roast Beetroot, Pumpkin and Feta Salad - the roast beetroot was still being cooked. They replaced it with more pumpkin. My wife's Garlic Prawns were OK though.
Service was a bit slow, only one person on and a reasonably busy lunch time crowd.
I know it's a small place and they had only just reopened, but I just wish restaurants would list what ISN'T available so I don't look like an idiot when I order.
The place has a lot of promise and has been fully booked out on a number of occasions, but the lack of the full menu really sticks with me.

We visited Drift for dinner with a group of friends & thoroughly enjoyed the entire night - friendly staff, delicious food, awesome cocktails & nothing too much trouble. Plus those views! We enjoyed a seafood platter, fish & chips plus oysters kilpatrick. Wine list not extensive but just enough for what we needed, and paired well with our food. Highly recommend this location for dinner or breakfast. Vince & his beautiful staff went above and beyond to ensure our evening was a fun one!

Beautiful location, fantastic, friendly service and great food. Lovely fresh produce locally sourced where possible and many vegan and vegetarian options to top it off. Also accommodated us outside in a protected spot for our anxious doggies with fresh water for them supplied. How lovely! Bonus for a small local cafe to also have a small but carefully selected wine list as well as beers and cocktails.

Fox sports TV does not belong in a restaurant. Club, pub yes, for sure.
My salt n pepper squid was average pub grub at best. Certainly not restaurant quality by a good chef - actually if they pop over to the pub, they could learn a thing or two. Our sticky date pudding was microwaved and tough. No caramel sauce, just a drizzle of crystallised golden syrup.
The one "restaurant" in town leaves a lot to be desired. Sorry, filled a gap but that's it.

We rarely have sports via kayo playing on our tv but when there are south Australian footy games on we do play them as a lot of our customers and staff love the footy. We don’t play the audio, so we don’t see an issue with this.
We are in a small town here at drift, we don’t have access to ‘restaurant quality chefs’ let alone staff in general. We are extremely lucky to have the chefs we have who are doing their best. With getting fresh seafood, especially squid, sometimes the size, texture etc changes throughout the year and unfortunately that is out of our control. Definitely go dine elsewhere if you want frozen squid from who knows where but is probably consistent in texture. We just don’t roll with that, we guarantee fresh and local.
Next time when you visit any cafe or restaurant please chat to the owners or management if you have any issues with your food. The last thing we want is for you to have a disappointing experience and we would love to rectify the issue given the chance.

The breakfast at Drift was great and staff were very friendly and obliging. There were options for indoor or outdoor dining but if you need WiFi you need to step outside to the park. Drift isn't open every day so check that it's open the day you go.

There's been a fair improvement since last time we were here. I didn't get to try the oysters but they were about. We had driven up from Ceduna just for lunch so we were pretty happy to see the meals. The Georges Fish and Chips was done very well, and my King Caesar Salad was OK if a little heavy on the sauce. Great service despite it being busy. Excellent views with inside or outside seating, very nice to sit in the sun at lunch time. Give it a go if you're in Streaky.
