Have been to the Flying Fish many times over the years but this last time I went it just didn't seem as good as I remember. We had take-away on the verandah - nice view - very crowded even though it was mid week and not holiday time - but that wasn't a problem. Had crumbed garfish - friends had... More

location is superb, staff are good, Food in the restaurant is very average. We ordered a seafood platter($90) Calamari rings,Fish,Pipis,Scallops. God it was ordinary. At least the cafe doesn't pretend it is any better then a fish and chip shop. Don't confuse value for money cafe with overpriced and over rated restaurant.

Had a lovely lunch at the Flying Fish Cafe with my bestie. While sitting down and checking the menu my phone buzzed me and Trip Advisor suggested that I might like the Fish with Chat potatoes. We thought that was a bit stalkerish! Anyway we chose the platter and shared it instead. It was phenomenal. Add a couple of glasses... More

We were lucky to get prime seating on the deck for a family lunch as we arrived early - it is a super busy cafe! Understandably too - we thoroughly enjoyed the fish and chips. Lovely light beer batter, crumbed calamari and prawns were super fresh, and chips were fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The garfish... More

We were seated at the front window with a fabulous view of the beach. Enjoyed a fabulous seafood platter for two. The staff were very attentive and went out of their way to get us a taxi. The wine list is good too.

Takeaway fish & chips eaten by the beach is an Australian tradition. The Flying Fish Cafe serves very good takeaway fish & chips ($15 per serve for 2 pieces of fish and a generous amount of chips, saved with a lemon wedge). The homemade tartare sauce is extra but delicious. There isn't much on the menu if you don't want... More

We shared the seafood basket and the variety was good but the fish was on the dry side... not unusual given that fish has to be cooked almost to the second. Anyhow the food was OK but the cheap own brand sparkling (sorry, the name was not memorable) was pretty undrinkable (serves us right, I suppose), BUT the noise was... More

We visit Port Elliot every year for summer and really look forward to the best fish and chip takeaway, but have to report that we were very disappointed in Jan 2017. Despite not liking it the first day of our annual visit, (it was oily and the batter had a slight taste), we went back a week later and sadly... More
