I’ve just moved to SA and the McLaren Vale region after 25 years in Tas - some might also consider that a culinary capital in terms of fresh produce. I’ve been working my way around all the well reviewed restaurants in the area pretty systematically...and nothing compares with this. I’m eating again there this week so will report back but it gets 5 stars from me on every small detail. Service not just impeccable but lovely and friendly and responsive. Atmosphere superb in the middle of garden/orchard/winery. Food perfectly presented and cooked. No wilting greens or sad overcooked duck. And small treats that really enliven the senses (and wallet) like free home baked bread and home made butter with home soaked cabernet salt crystals. And a free taster! Haven’t had that in SA since I arrived and ate at Hardy’s Verandah (another taste and hospitality sensation). This place deserves 5 Michelin stars in my view!More

Had lunch here twelve months ago and thought it was great. Went last weekend for my birthday. This is no longer a great place to eat for South Australia it is now World Class. The staff were totally amazing, informative and made it a joy...to be there. The food was second to none. There were so many little touches to place this restaurant above the others. Those who prepared the meal are nothing less than artists! The setting is world class. I can not remember a better place to eat any where in Australia! Well done Currant Shed. I'll be back and back and back!More

A lovely lunch with friends thanks to the Currant Shed. Not my first visit but was for my friends. The staff were wonderful and made us feel so at hone and comfortable snd we were most impressed when we didn’t realise there was meat on...my pescatorian friends dish she ordered. They realised before cooking and adjusted the dish to suit her. Food was just beautiful as always and it was a perfect day to show of the magnificent surrounds. The manager Ali was most welcoming and our waitress was friendly and attentive. All in all a great experience and the attention to detail in the dishes snd complimentary bits will be rememberedMore

Delightful - relaxed and beautiful, enabling the enjoyment and celebration of my brother's 60th birthday with friends, family and food in a stunning setting. The three course event menu in the private dining room exceeded all expectations. The service was friendly and nothing was too...much trouble.More

The service here was excellent the staff were friendly and professional. My husband had the Barramundi, he said it tasted excellent but was disappointed in the size of the serve and the accompaniments. I chose the Taco, which was buried beneath a bed of beans...therefore was soggy and this spoilt the whole dish. I didn't care for the accompaniments either. the dessert we had was really nice and the complimentary 'choc snack' very tasty and delicious. All in all the restaurant was a nice relaxed atmosphere, the food was disappointing. We probably wouldn't bother to go again. I really like the surroundings though.More

We partook in the 6 course chefs selection menu and really it's hard to find anything to complain about. The food was perfectly balanced, tasty and you got quite a large serving. The location is stunning, the staff were great and the beer and wine...selection was plentiful. We couldn't have asked for more and I look forward to visiting again.More

What i liked......... - Pleasant and relaxed environment - Lovely surroundings - Very friendly, attentive and on-the-ball staff who know their dishes - Stunning, clever, delicious wonderful food, perfectly prepared and beautifully, presented - Many menu options - Numerous culinary surprises between courses - Many...wine choices (and other options) - Did i say impeccable food? - Did i say wonderful staff? What I didn't like....... - Absolutely nothing!! (Well you could use coffee cups with handles not dopey 'pot plants') Just get yourself to the Currant Shed. Dont delay, just book and go there. Its wonderful. You wont regret it.More

We are so fortunate to have this place just a mere 30 minutes drive away from home which means we can visit often for special occasions. This was our 2nd this year and the food and location are stunning. Cocktails wow, wine great and a...funky selection of craft beers (little bang face inverter was a hit) . Love this place and will continue to visit. Service is 5 start and a shout out to Nicole for making our day perfect.More
