The food and service were both superb . However the chairs need cushions. Both I and my friend were in pain by the end of the meal, as neither if us have well padded rear ends .

Restaurant's Favourite

The staff here have perfected the art of blending friendliness, knowledge and professionalism to make us feel welcome and at ease. The setting has a beautiful relaxed McLaren Vale vibe. Now for the food and wine: they both matched the already high standard of the...staff and setting. We opted for the 3 course lunch with paired wines and chose 3 different dishes each. Each one was an amazing balance of complex and vibrant flavours, difficult to choose a favourite - but the pork belly stood out for me. The wine pairings were expertly done and was well worth doing. Thanks to the team at the Currant Shed for an outstanding birthday meal!More

I've been looking forward to trying the Currant Shed for quite some time and it exceeded expectations. It was fully booked when we had our staff Christmas lunch but it didn't feel crowded and being able to see out into the lawn area and vineyards...and having the blinds up meant fresh air wafted through. Although you're in a shed, it's the kind of place you can be comfortable getting all dolled up or rocking a t-shirt and shorts. We had trouble choosing an entree and main but to be honest I don't think it matters what you choose, everything is incredible. Beautiful flavours and textures that perfectly complement each other. I had the smoked kingfish for my entree and the barramundi for the main and it was delicious. And for anyone wondering if those little bread rolls are worth the fuss.........yes they absolutely are!!!! All of the staff were quick to help and the service was excellent. It was the perfect place to see out the year with amazing work colleagues, sensational food and a lovely atmosphere. Shout out to Wayne who is talented, creative, hilarious and I would definitely recommend putting this on your to do list. And if you're feeling rather full at the end of your meal you can go for a stroll down to Shottesbrooke to help digest all the incredible food and perhaps have a little wine tasting (we didn't end up going in, the walk was enough). Just remember to wear your stretchy clothes!!More

Perfect for a relaxing lunch, every dish was delicious starting with the warm sourdough and Shiraz salted whipped butter. The staff were knowledgeable about the menus and wine offerings and made the whole experience delightful. Highly recommend a pre or post lunch walk over to...the cellar door tooMore

We visited one if our favourite restaurants which usually has delicious food. Unfortunately, this time the food was sub standard and we were very disappointed.

A beautiful restaurant and garden. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, and so accommodating for a toddler and baby, even making space to sit outside part way through our meal. Food was also very tasty, will certainly return!

The Current Shed is one of our favorite places for lunch! The food is always interesting and delicious. We sat outside under the verandah and enjoyed the food and wine whilst the children played in the garden. The sun was shining, experience was wonderful! We...were in a group of 10 and we are all looking forward to going back again soon!More

Greeted warmly by knowlegable staff, sat in beautiful surrounds, given free 10/10 snacks , and sipping a well priced local bubbly, we couldnt have been happier as first timers to this highly rated eatery . Our expectations , were met . Wonderful work from the...chef & kitchen staff left my wife & I just chewing with the odd, "Oh my god " in between bites, more than a few times. It might be an effort to get to this place, but for us, it was well worth it. Highly recommend .More

We shared an anniversary lunch at The Currant Shed in November . We had booked outside but as it was a 40 degree day luckily they offered us an inside table which we were very happy to accept ! Every detail of lunch was perfection...from the initial amuse-bouche to the apple sorbet to cleanse the palate. They have a small seasonal menu but with plenty of variety. Relaxed and friendly vibe. Staff were attentive & informative without overdoing it. I had a vegetarian starter then the barramundi. Beautifully presented and great flavours. My husband had the octopus and the slow cooked beef. Delicious ! We weren’t going to have dessert but couldn’t resist!- we had an apple and rhubarb dessert and the artichoke crème brûlée.. amazing! Thank you for such a memorable lunch - we will be back!More
