Had some misses compared to the other locations in town

Upon entering your left to your own to seat without much instructions on ordering. Staff just smiled and said sit any where then we waited but no staff came by we realized ordering was done at the bar. Food was dropped off quickly after, portions quite small compared to other establishments but pricing was the same. Overall it was good but would be nice if the staff or instructions were provided at the table

A reasonably pleasant place for lunch

The Hahndorf Inn prides itself on its German origins and the inside seating area by the bar is certainly quaint but the main interior is not especially Germanic or cosy but big and barn—like. The menu contains lots of German specialities such as Eisbein and sauerkraut. The helpings are generous and the quality reasonable. However the service, while very friendly, was decidedly slow and rather inefficient despite the restaurant being almost empty. Hot food sat on the service counter waiting to be taken to the table so that it was only luke warm by the time it reached the diner and it took ages for our drink order to be produced, by which time we’d finished our meal. So, not a bad experience but not a great one either.

Lack lustre customer service, great pork knuckle

Paid for two beers h by it had to wait 20 minutes after being told the keg needed changing. Then waited 20 minutes for a Pepsi max after that. Had to chase staff members for updates. Finally the pork knuckle came. Great food. Very average customer service.

Horrible customer service

Food was very poor. Pork was dry and the crackling was chewy. The customer service was even worse. You have to pay $20 deposit per stein when purchasing a beer in a stein glass and get your deposit back when you return your glass. When I finished dinner and left, I realised after leaving that I never got my deposit back for the 3 steins I purchased, which I had were left on the table. I called and confirmed with management that the glasses were cleared by staff. I provided proof of my receipt via email and asked them to do a manual refund for $60, which they were originally unwilling to, even though they had multiple easy options to refund my money. I wrote multiple emails to follow up on my refund, which I never received a single response. Then after making my second follow up call after almost 2 weeks after the event, i finally received my refund. It was a very disappointing experience given I confirmed the steins were collected by staff and I had my receipt, I provided easy ways of returning the money which was rightfully mine, and management would have been satisfied to keep my money if I hadn’t have made multiple follow up requests.

Big Mistake Returning Here

We returned to Hahndorf after two years and decided to again dine at the Hahndorf Inn since the food was so magnificent last time. Big Mistake! Prices have increased greatly and the food was absolutely atrocious. We ate the same meals as before, the pork knuckle for him and crumbed eggplant for me. I appreciate that the restaurant was busy but I was eating virtually raw eggplant which had barely seen any frypan or grill. It was inedible so of course I left the lot and though it was mentioned to the waitress she did nothing to rectify. If you cannot cope with a busy night and provide quality food that we paid through the nose for then perhaps rethink your ability to function as a restaurant.

Disgraceful service and bad food

Just left and to say a disgrace is an understatement. Booked lunch for 5. Not a massive group. Hubby and I arrived first ordered a dink each. Another 2 arrived in 10 mins later. Our drinks still had not arrived. No issues. Waited another 10 mins by that time the final person had arrived. Still no drinks. But behold they arrived and ordered the 3 new drinks. I what arrived 2! Not 3! Ordered food while one person went to the bar themselves to get their drink. Ordered a platter to serve 3 people. One burger and one kransky with a pretzel. Food arrived platter to serve 3 people was not worth the $109 dollars which was mostly made up of sourkraut red cabbage and potato a couple of sausages a rissole bits of a schnitzel and a pork nuckle mostly fat. Burger was full of grease and dripping and kransky seemed fine but no pretzel. Asked for another glass of wine for one of the group along with the missing pretzel . Asked 3 staff members and waited the entire meal before the wine finally arrived along with the pretzel. Shocking service food disgraceful for the price. Will never go back. A lovely family lunch beyond disappointed.

Stale and reheated rubbish

I have been to Hahndorf inn about 6 times with international friends over the last 6 years and enjoying the food every time. I went today and food was terrible stale reheated rubbish which nobody enjoyed. I ordered deluxe banquet for 4 ($120 approx) and it was only enough for 2 people, so ordered chicken wings and chips which were also just stale reheated rubbish, chips were soggy and stale. Sorry but I can never go back and bring international friends to this place again. Over $230 BILL of very very poor quality food.

Not that great...

What a disappointment this place was. After going into the bar at 11.30 am while it was quiet. We booked a table for lunch, and we were allowed by the staff member to choose our preferred seat, as we had a dog with us and needed to sit outside and we wanted the less busy beer garden area. This part went without an issue and the staff member was very helpful and pleasant. On arriving at our pre-booked time of 12.30 we find someone else sitting at our pre-booked table. I found the original staff member who booked our spot, and whilst she was apologetic and unsure why the table was swapped, we either took the table the Inn decided we should sit at, which was a dingy table right by the door from the bar into the beer garden, which our dog and we did not like, or find another table. The other tables all meant sitting out on the busy street, the few vacant tables there had used plates and beer glasses piled up waiting to be cleared. We felt we had little choice at this point of the day and we stayed at the table given. Then we ordered food and that just added to the poor performance of this Inn. I had a dry Chicken Schnitzel and some of the worst chips ever and my wife's meal was equally dry and bland. With drinks and two mains over $80 spent we didn't enjoy any of it. So, we firstly wasted our time going and booking a table, despite the staff member saying that we could choose a table we liked. Then having to pay a lot for such a bad meal. We won't come back to this place again. The Hahndorf Inn made us feel unwelcome and ripped off.

Never again - I'm done

My family and I have been great supporters of the pubs in Hahndorf especially the Hahndorf Inn. Many years ago when we lived in Hahndorf the Hahndorf Inn was our regular and had dinner there at least once a week and was always impressed by the service and quality of food. Over the years when we visited we always went to the Hahndorf Inn and had dinner. Over time I noticed that the quality of service and food deterioted and it appeared they were catering for the influx of tourists. My wife and I had dinner at the Inn of Friday night. My wife had a beef schnitzel and I had the fish and chips. My wife had no problems with the schnitzel however the fish and chips was the last straw. On arrival it looked appetising however it turned out to be batter and chips. I kept cutting pieces attempting to look for fish but between the two pieces I was lucky to find one mouthful. It turned out it was basically just batter. The little bowl of salad with it was fairly average as was the chips. I wanted to take it back but my wife didn't want to make a scene and we left. That's it Hahndorf Inn I'm done. On leaving I noticed there as a fish and chip across the road. I should have just gone there.

Price that being charged higher than stated on the menu that provided on the table. Still Plus additional surcharge and GST. No table service. Order plater that came with Crispy German Pork Knuckle (another plater $15 cheaper only incl soft skin pork knucle). But then the skin so tough. They failed to make it crispy.

Hahndorf Inn serves beer and roasted pork knuckle in plentiful amounts. We ordered a roasted pork knuckle that we shared, which weighed 1.3 kg. We just managed to complete eating our pork order, which included other things such as German sausage and vegetable cabbage. Hahndorf Inn has large numbers of guests, it's wise to book in advance. Hahndord Inn is a German-style restaurant that is very popular in South Australia, especially in the Adelaide Hills.

Booked the reseraunt and hot seated in the pub. Standard vegetarian meal in a pub. Clearly who ever made my food would not eat it themselves. Ordered vegan hotdog was a soggy sourcrout roll with hot English mustard and no flavour. My 1st thought was whoever owns this place clearly doesn't eat here. A tourist trap for sure I bet no locals dine here.

Service and ambience were ok. Two of us had fish and chips. The batter on the fish was so thick it was hard to find the fish. The chips were a funny yellow colour, which was probably due to the oil used, and they were overcooked and hard. Both the fish and the chips were completely tasteless. It has put us off fish and chips forever. For $29 each, it was an absolute rip off! Will not be returning ever!

Weizenbier served in a Stein instead of a special Weizenbier Glas. Eisbein was a joke, the chef needs serious training how to cook an Eisbein. I’ve returned it. Got a beef schnitzel. Full of flour coating instead of crispy bread crumps. The Schnitzel was just deep fried rather then prepared in a frying pan. Lesson learnt! I’ll cook as German my German food at home to perfection. Just sell your food to tourists, they wouldn’t know better .
